So when I swapped in a 302 into my XR4Ti, I used aftermarket fuel line to connect the stock lines to the engine. This was back in 2016 and the other day when working on it, I saw some cracks in the hoses.

Obviously I’m going to replace them but should I go with a different type of hose, put a heat sleeve over them, route them differently? They do run near the ceramic headers.

Thoughts?

That close to headers, a heat sleeve for sure. The newest fuel hose may be improved since 2016. Look at your old ones when you remove them and see if they specificly say approved for ethanol or E85. The new stuff does. I think I would make them a little longer and tie wrap them against the master cyl as well.

Just replace them. It's cheap, and pick up a length of that Mylar heat cover.and perhaps make a heat shield for the brake master cly.

Replace and heat sleeve was also my first thought when I saw the photos.

Yup, they’re definitely getting replaced.

OK so pretty much we’re all on the same page, heat sleeve, make them longer etc etc.

I’m headed to the local speed shop during the week once some other parts come in and will bring one of them along to show them.

I built a chump Integra and used some 5/16 and some 3/8.  The 5/16 cracks every year, the 3/8 is fine 5 years later.  I don't know why I keep getting the same batch of hose...

Anyway, some lasts a long time, some doesn't.

Most bulk aftermarket hose I buy is crap.  It never lasts nearly as long as the OEM stuff.

Makes me wonder if I should get the heat sleeves with Velcro so I can easily check the hoses later on?

The hook and loop on the velcro would melt

Reroute fuel lines, being that close to the header is just asking for problems. Your feet are only a foot or so away and feet don't like fire.

Yep the heat is killing them. Reroute them if you can, if not, put heat sleeves on the new ones.

Any suggestions on a quality brand of fuel hoses? I, too, seem to be having crappy luck with hoses, and I would really like OEM or better weathering.

Or do I just go up an SAE spec from what i need? ( flex fuel hose for gas, fi hose for carb, etc? )

This is what I’m going with. A buddy has some extra from one of his projects. Had to order all new ends but should be worth it.
