I know the title might sound like a bit of a joke, but there really is a race this weekend. Indy @ Barber's
Who's gonna be there?
Anyone know what "On-track activities" on Sunday's scheduled events means?
Any "special" functions I should try and attend?
I am planning on being there all 3 days, bought my tickets as part of a charity auction. I paid a good bit more than the face value for GA, but it was for a good cause.
I might be there. I have free passes for my kids, but I doubt I'll be able to talk them into going with me.
In any case, it is a great track and spectator friendly. I'd suggest going through the motorcycle museum on the grounds. It is incredible, everything from scooters to racing bikes.

Go to the track's website for further info an day-to-day activities:

The Rolex/Grand-Am series runs on Saturday. That may be more entertaining than the IndyCars.
DO NOT miss a tour of the museum.
Take lots of pics and share them.
Have fun!
I've been to the museum and the track many times previously... I am looking for sponsor / car club events like: meet and greets, autograph sessions, paddock tours, etc.
Then on the official schedule of events, Sunday shows "On-track activities" but I can't seem to find out what that is... exactly. I am guessing parade laps for Porsche / Corvette and other car corrals.
In reply to BradLTL:
Maybe referring to In the past the PCA members have driven parade laps between some of the event.
The Grad-Am Rolex race has always been the Porsche 250.
I usually go to the Rolex race every year, but I have to work this Saturday.
I couldn't possibly care less about IndyCars.

For the most part I agree... but since it is not looking good for an F1 race at Barber's, I figured I would go watch the an open-wheel series take on the track.
Indycar is actually looking better this year than it has since 2007.
Then again, I am a Franchitti fan...

I think I need to see an open wheel race in person to see if I like it more. I just can't get into it watching it on TV.
Indycar in person is actually quite cool. I went to the Detroit Grand Prix one year at Belle Isle, it was a hoot and a half.

Don't know about this weekend but at the superbike race they had local cyclists ride the track and they ran some of the bikes and lotus's out of the museum on the track.
I've been back and forth on if I'm going or not. Haven't checked to see if they still have tickets or not. I'm just over in Moody (10ish minutes away) so I don't have a reason not to.
It does bother me a little bit that if I don't want to pay the $50 to park at Barber, it's farther away to go to the offsite shuttle location than to go to barber from my house.
My understanding is that the parking is all sold out, so you pretty much have to park at the dog track now.
Anyone headed out there today? I am probably going to head out there to watch qualifying, but not sure that I will stay for all the practices in the afternoon.
A friend of mine, who works for SimCraft, said to come by the Sam Schmidt haulers 2nd level of the paddock, and that they would have a nice bit of kit there.

You are just on the other side of Barber from me. I live in Liberty Park. I can hear the cars when I am in my backyard.
I ride my bike up there every once in a while just to see what is going on. And I can usually get a free peek of some action from the museum parking lot. I doubt I could get away with that this weekend.
Frankly, I'd be more interested in seeing a vintage race or some other amateur race rather than Indy cars.
