What makes this JDM commercial for the R31-chassis Nissan Skyline GTS so special? Yeah, it has some great rolling shots of the car at speed at Nissan Proving Grounds in Japan, but it’s the era-appropriate bangin’ soundtrack that really sets the mood.

The best part, though, just might be the not one, not two, but three shots of the automatic …

It's pretty rad. Personally, I'm holding out for an Iron Mask.

It's more like bangin' 1780's music (Beethoven's Fur Elise) cheeky  But very cool, thanks for sharing.

Car commercials just seemed better back then, my favorite 80s commericial remains the Isuzu Gemini:

Unless Ken Block's next video is done with showroom stock cars in the form of a car ad and all the world's lawyers are locked in a basement, I can't imagine this will ever be beaten in terms of stunt driving.

Two things that get me about that commercial...

HICAS four wheel steering?  For some reason I had the thought that the R31 had a swingarm suspension like a Z31.  I mean, technically you CAN do 4WS with that setup by shoving the bushings around (IIRC the GVR4 did this, no traditional pivots) but now I'm intrigued.

The 4WD(?)  model, I think Car and Driver actually tested.  For some reason I thought they called it a Bluebird, and had been making lots of references to being turbocharged and all wheel drive, but I'd never found the article.  My memory has it sort of looking like that four door Skyline...
