And the hubcap fell off like eight times.

That thing sounds amazing.
Is it just me or does his seat move laterally about 2" on hard transitions
I hear that there are fairly serious financial consequences of crashing there even if you're okay. If you damage the Armco, or whatever they call it, it's $$$ per foot. If your accident blocks the track, it's way expensive since now you're basically "renting" the entire track for as long as you're blocking it. It makes such driving all the more impressive.
Great, now I want an AE86 again .
Mind you, the first thing I would have done with that AE86 is stick a proper seat in it to improve the feel.
In reply to mndsm: Do yourself a favor- get a Celica of the same generation. I've owned three ae86 chassis, then the price ballooned for the "drift tax" and now I own Celicas. They one up the ae86 in a lot of ways. Only being outclassed in weight (but not much)
Great video...I got a chuckle out of some of his throttle-steering antics in the tighter corners! Even though he isn't WOT, the sound and the slowly ever-increasing revs about 0:45 onward instantly reminds me why I have had at least one AE86 for all of the last 18 years!
I wonder how much faster the miata could have gone without all the traffic?
What a cool track and business, we need something like that here in the states..... Tail of the Dragon perhaps?

They're still really cheap in Japan.....
Both videos were impressive. I think the craziest thing, though, is that there is someone who actually forced themselves to drive the bejesus out of a slow car for what was probably a long time without giving in to the temptation to patch over their frustrations with horsepower. Those people are RARE.

all Jap rwd cars(un-trashed) are beginning to climb... it doesn't really matter what. In my case instead of the AE86, or heavier Celica, I went with the lighter E7 Corolla.
anyone want to finance my bucket list for me and my 2200#, 170hp Corolla to go? I even have the GoPro, so all I need is to raise enough cash to get me(and GLW), and my car there(and back) for a week.....
