One of my cars is completely overrun by small (couple mm), brownish, nonbiting ants - Google says, prolly sugar aka water ants. When I pull the car cover, they grab their (white) eggs and disappear. There are thousands of eggs, everywhere - under a dash cover, in the doors, glove box (piles of them!), fuse box, trunk, sunroof, between the car cover and roof - you get the picture.
I've found info on killing the ants but can anything be done about the eggs so I don't have to deal with this again?
Ideally I could convince the little berkeleyers to grab their eggs and leave the car...
I have used ant baits around the house and garage with great success.
Edit: I can't imagine getting them to remove their young before they berk off and die. I'm thinking get rid of the ants first, then vacuum out any remnants.
What about running an ozone machine? Kill the eggs, then use a vacuum?
Ugh, this happened with one of my cars. I dropped ant baits all over the floors. In my case I found the main nest was up in one of the fenderwells; pulled out the fender liner and a giant glob of dirt/nest. Yours sounds more disseminated, like RedT2 suggests, maybe vacuum out or blast with a leaf blower after you saturation bomb them?

How about buying some thin plastic sheet, covering the entire car, weighing down the edges, and putting one of those bug bombs under it?
I had an infestation get chased out by the paint fumes, right when I was applying the finish coat on my car, and they got forever frozen on the fender...

Just dealt with this in my work beater. Found a nest in the front fenderwell right in front of the door. Got behind the fenderwell with a bit of pressure wash and bug bombed the interior so they wouldn't move in. Still finding the odd dead ant on my floor mats.
You're approaching this all wrong...

Re: The Simpson's. The funniest bit I ever saw on the show was when Homer wanted to buy a gun and went to the store "Bloodbath and Beyond." Priceless.
In reply to procainestart :
Insects of any stripe hate soap. Bait them out with a line of sugar leading off into the grass. And ant traps.
Then run your car through the car wash ( delux ) Followed by soapy water washed in every crevice you can except the engine compartment. The heat there will pretty well chase them away.
Then leave the car uncovered outside in the sun for a few days. Before you wash the car again with soapy water. Make sure any cover doesn't reach close to the ground.
Terro traps (or make your own Borax/sugar/water mixture) work well for destroying sugar ant nests - the ants take the Borax-laced treat back home where it kills everything after a couple of days...
Been there with my GTI a million years ago. I set off a bug bomb inside. Not sure if that was the best answer but it was best at the time.
You are likely an ‘Ant Enabler’. The ants are there because something there satisfies their need to eat or drink. If you do not remove that another colony will likely move in because something there satisfies their need to eat or drink.
