I bought a couple of front replacement CV shafts for the 04 Cayenne T from FCP Euro.  Finally got around to replacing the bearings, fish the first shaft in, no problem.  After I slipped the second one into position, I noticed the inner joint was frozen.  That's wierd.  Pulled it back out and sure enough, it looks like the center of the cage must have pushed through during shipping.

Here's the question, do I just open it up and put it back together or wait a week on the roundtrip return to FCP?  Would there have been any harm done?  I've got a spare one time use clamp and quality synthetic CV joint grease on the shelf, but once it is open, all bets ar off on the return.

I would call them. I would be concerned that there is damage to the CV joint that will shorten its life. Better to let them deal with it.
