Inter-leaf friction is a bad thing, it's not consistent.

Do you really think AMC bothered to calculate internal leaf pack friction in relation to overall vehicle dampening and shock selection?

From the way stock leaf packs sag on stock vehicles I don't think they did many calculations on the leaf packs at all.

Have you tried just polishing the leafsprings where they meet?

I like the graphite paint. Best way for a racecar is to just run them 'wet' with moly grease. An enclosing rubber gaiter would be nice. Some vintage cars had leather spring gaiters.

While perusing the Speedway "Street Rod" catalogue last night (it just came in the mail...) I was elated to find this spring liner material and thus be able to constructively post to this thread:
