Any one up for a "Pickup Man"- truck class at this year's 2016 Challenge?
Damn it just sold my $500 93 full size Blazer but I still have the $500 78 K10 and the $1389 88 K30.
I believe we said minivans this year and trucks in 2017, but no reason it can't be done this year. John Welsh orchestrated the aristocrats class basically by himself. I plan on building a nissan hardbody for 2017.
i'm planning to bring a truck to 2017. bringing the Z car back this year with tuning and refinements that could not be done in a week between finishing and leaving for florida this past year.
The Aristocrats came about pretty organically.
In 2014 I did the fist Q45 which had failure and I sold but still finished 11th.
For 2015, Robbie announced early that he was bringing the BMW 750iL, V12. Once I aquired the second Q45, I called Robbie out in what I first titled "the battle of the big girls". I later refined that to The Aristocrats and we gained two more Lexus with the potential of Jag, Roadmaster and more joining.
Idea launched here:

Idea hyped here:

The premise always was a way to bring some more fun and more battle to "the cheap seats." While we knew, expected and looked forward to cool builds and swaps dominating the top of the fleet, this sub-class brewed a fierce battle somewhere in the middle of the standings.
I intend to bring a minivan for 2016 (though I have not aquired yet.)
I could be swayed to a pickup for 2017 (I like this idea.)
It is quite possible that the Q45 could also make a return for 2016 (along with a minivan) if any luxo-barge devotees need some competition.
I already bought a S10 for next year. The way things are looking it will be driving before the 2016 van. I guess that goes with the fact that a V8 s10 has been done adnauseum and the manual V6 1st Gen Odysseey is kind of a one off.

the rendezvous is available still for anyone wanting to go minivan and doesn't have one. challenger price: $50 if you bring wheels or 17" tires, i'm keeping the tires.
i really was thinking all out stupid tube frame rendezvous but i have way more important things in life and the Z car needs bugs worked out and some local testing and i'm aiming to come back with more driving experience, some suspension tweaks, a properly sized carb, remembering to tell the judges more story, and shooting for a top 10 overall/top 5 drag finish.
i think the big block 5 speed c1500 might come for '17.
I am bringing a f150. It was in plans before last challenge. I plan on it being a multi year truck.
Mr Nelson sold me a couple of his $5 cams. I can't wait to fire it up.
Someone needs to come up with a soccer mom sticker for the minivan class this year. I declare myself the official cutter of vinyl for silly classes.
Still annoyed that I had to bail out of the aristocrat class last year. Work and life was in the way. I did not realize the mini vans were the new coolness for this years challenge. (I need to get out from under my rock more often) Looks like I need to start looking at cheaper ones now. I was shopping the 4-5k range but maybe I can find something a bit lower in the price scale.

For those not familiar, for the Aristocrats last year, we made up a Class Insignia that was affixed to the rear glass of all the class entrants. The Duce did an excellent job of bringing this idea to life in vinyl.
The same Class Insignia design was also a part of the class awards and honorary titles. For these, faux carbon fiber vinyl (only the finest!)
