Well if you were willing to bring it to northeast Ohio...

I'm not far way, but don't know of any stainless welders.

There was an old fellow nearby that slowly scaled back and worked for little money. Someone told me he was a genius at TIG welding fuel tanks. The property recently sold and I doubt he restarted somewhere else.

Actually, welding stainless in non-structural situations like exhausts is simple. Treat it like mild steel. Mig weld, wash, rinse, repeat.

I wouldn't build a roll cage that way, but stainless welds just like mild steel.

I could probably do it if you were in PA

I have a MIG and am local, but I have to warn you that by welding with a carbon setup like mine you'll lose the anti corrosion properties of the stainless. If I were you I would look for someone to do it the right way.

I have welded stainless to carbon this way, and it looks fine, but has to be treated like a carbon steel part would.

You can also get stainless wire for stainless to stainless welding.

Yup, I didn't mention that, but if OP wants to supply the wire and gas (not sure what's required for stainless/stainless) I can stick stuff together. My welds are not the prettiest in the world, but they work.

90%He/7.5%Ar/2.5%CO2 which is expensive.

98%Ar/2%CO2 works just fine but its a lot colder and you do not get as good of penetration. Not a big deal on an exhaust.

Too bad you aren't local to me. I would be happy to TIG up your exhaust with some 308L wire I have. (I'm assuming your tubing is 304) Good luck.

Shouldnt it be welded with stainless rod to prevent rusting?

Id be willing to buy the gas and wire if youve got a tank and wanna help out. Id prefer tig obviously but anything will beat these damn clamps im using haha.

I actually don't have a spare tank. I would be happy to supply the welder and my hands though if you can finagle the rest.

You'll need to log in to post.
