same here, Ignorant. Unless they have to send you directly to the emergancy room, your first stop after getting hurt on the job is to the small bathroom attached to the Nurses office with a cup to pee in.

If they test you for anything.. even something prescription, you get escorted off property... Not even to your car. If it is a prescription drug, you get to come back and prove it.

Actually fat ass banker can do more and farther-reaching damage. Also, without the fat ass banker, there are no companies providing jobs. Easy on the working class hero stuff.

My wife and I own a business (besides my job in the capital markets). In the past we have fired people for showing up drunk or high. Zero tolerance. I pay you to show up sober and to do the best you can for the money I pay you. If that is a problem, find another job. It is a (mostly) free country.

Pet peeve with me (I expect flames), but I cannot stand the angry worker syndrome. Workers are paid to work. If you don't want to work a crap job for crap wages go back to school or start your own business. If you want to know what real work and stress is, become an entrepreneur.

Fired.

A group of Chrysler employees have been in the news lately, causing a bit of a black eye for the automaker. Originally, a Detroit Fox affiliate snagged video of the UAW members really enjoying their break – by smoking weed and drinking beer. Chrysler reacted to the news swiftly, by identifying and suspending 15 employees who were ID'd in the clip. Now, after taking time to investigate the entire incident, Chrysler has put the hammer down – 13 of the Jefferson North Plant employees have been fired and the other two get an unpaid, one-month "vacation." It's a shame that this happened, but it's good to see Chrysler respond so quickly. The automaker has issued a brief statement on the matter, which you can read after the jump.

Good.

All 15 of them will be back to work by the end of the year. The "fired" 13 will have to complete treatment and then be reinstated. and with a contract year coming up they will be back to work in no time.

I'd say that's possible, but you seem to know for sure, so I'll defer to your expertise.

the trick is to say, " I have a problem, I need help." when they are trying to fire you for a drug or alcohol related problem.

They'll send you to rehab instead of fire you.

I totally agree. I didn't mean to imply that bankers can't do damage by being impaired or that they are not needed. I also am self employed so I understand what you are saying.

Have you seen the economy lately? Irresponsible lenders and consumers who believe they are entitled to by whatever, whenever got us here.

And people wonder why domestic manufacturers are outsourcing and foreign manufacturers are insourcing only in areas where they can avoid the unions ...

In my mind this is the root of the problems in the American economy. Lots of blue collar workers in their 40s and 50s with no real marketable skills and huge paychecks. The economy tanks and, shock upon shocks, they are the first to lose their jobs. We could try to do worker training or assistance in moving to a new field, but that's "SOCIALISM" so it will never happen. The blue collar workers could take lower paying jobs, but that's humiliating, so here we are.
