I saw a one ton Toyota Tacoma camper chassis on FBM that was converted to a flatbed ute. Looked kinda awesome.

this one

How cheap do burned campers go.. and has anyone done this?

My kids will be moved out someday and I'm interested in learning to weld. Seems a small flatbed would be a cool grassroots project. Bonus points for if it's a 4x4 but I suspect those are pretty rare as campers.

Love how the ad brags that it’s one of a kind. ($1m does seem a bit pricey, though.) But, yeah, it’s kinda cool....

I thought this was a serious thread until you made me click on the ad...  Is this being sold by Dr Evil?

Seriously, though, that I'm aware of, campers are always made on the HD chassis, so it should be pretty easy.

I always drooled over those.  Living in SoCal in the early 2000s I would see them everywhere.  Evidently they were pretty common in Mexico and many of them came across the border.

I am all for enabling this for YOU because I would think it's going to be an expensive venture.  There would be a huge pile of discarded material, you would need a new cab (or graft on a back), and it seems like a ton of work.  Best if you do it instead of me.  :)

Didn't Isuzu have a 1 ton pickup in the late 70s?

Yeah it has occurred to me that a camper cab will need a back wall. This likely isn't going to happen in my garage - just FBM musings.

15 seconds after posting the ad......would you take $500,000?
