I never really enjoyed listening to the annoying announcer or watching a bunch of rich, old white guys who are willing to pay the highest price possible for a car. Most of the time the cars really aren't that special either. They all seem like suckers to me.

In reply to amg_rx7:

Next year we could probably push Reggie Jackson to fisticuffs if that would make it more entertaining for you......we might even make that PPV.

Naturally, I'm only teasing.....he was at least indifferent this year(the year before was almost fisticuffs)

Nah, still wouldn't be into it. There are enough shows with senseless drama already...

I'd rather watch an episode on the build. That might be cool. Oh wait, that's Overhaulin'

You need to go to a GoodWill auto auction if they have them in Columbus. Or come to the one in Dayton. I bought two of my escorts at them. I enjoyed the experience. I like to think of them as cultural events. They certainly attract people that are interesting to watch.

well im in cincy maybe I should go with you? I went to one car auction a few years ago, a big one in louisville. I put down my deposit (which was a few hundred dollars) I just went to observe and then when I left and tried to collect my deposit they said, no we're keeping your money but congratulations on the yugo (or whatever it was) that you just bought... Basically i felt the whole thing was a scam. I had to argue to get my money back... I guess I must have sneezed or something so they acted as if I placed a bid.....which would have been impossible since I never have any money (which explains my time on this website) Maybe that was just an isolated incident...

I don't mind watching auctions; I just don't like hearing, with every hot rod, street rod, modified car that crosses the block: " The build costs more than the current/final bid.." , or words to that effect. OK, I GET IT!

This. Some goober busting buttons on his shirt because he paid the highest price he could is just anathema to my soul. But even worse is that the average goober watching says 'well hell I can retire on my '69 Lemans' or etc and the price of collector cars skyrockets out of sight. It's hitting all across the market, not just the muscle cars. There was a ~$40,000 TR4 a little while back, for instance.

Watched some Barret last night, and even with the undisclosed fees that go on top of the bid, there are a lot of interesting cars selling for way less than it would take to build them. For a guy with cash to play, these are the golden days.

All the different cars, the multiple lanes, the action, the grudges, how could you not like the auctions? Oh wait, you mean the stage shows on TV for unreal vehicles at unreal prices. Yeah, those are pretty stale. It's a shame most auto auctions are closed to the public, it's a great ticket.
