Hell yes! NASCAR on the dirt and the F1 season opener tomorrow. It will be a good day to sit in front of the TV.
Will this be on regular TV (not cable)?
In the late 90's I lived with a girl for 5 years. Her family were huge NASCAR fans. With them, I have been to Bristol at least 6 times. Great times. Crazy racing. Really more like a circular demo derby where luck is just as important as skill.
In those years we also did Daytona 500 (Dale Sr won) as well as Talladega. I've been to Michigan Speedway tons of times too (closest track to home.)

the last few Nascar races have been on CH 11 , Fox TV in Southern Cal , over the air
I'll tune in just to see what it is like. It's going to rain here all day tomorrow so can't go outside.
About time they try to reconnect with a grassroots level. This at least grabs the attention of the dirt track locals and the fans that get to see the dirt track guys grow up and get into circle track racing. All that's left is to take out the tube frames and put in every day cars.
watching practice they have gotten down to the original track at many places ,
hopefully they reload more dirt overnight !

The dirt is anywhere between a foot deep up near the wall to several feet thick down low. They won't wear through it. What looked like asphalt during yesterday's practice was the hard packed dirt rubbering in.

Ahhh OK......thanks
And they cancelled it tonight because of rain.....

.....and rain turns it to snot. Too bad, I was looking forward to the racing. We went to see the trucks at Eldora the first year they tried it and it was entertaining.
Yes i plan to watch. Nascar has a lot of stuff this year to bring back fans. Can't wait. And next weekend is the freedom 500! Good stuff
That (hopefully) explains why my local Fox affiliate was running infomercials and Pawn Stars reruns when I checked in on it.
I doubt many Fox stations will run the race during the week , it will be Fox Sports etc ,
maybe they will stream it on YouTube......
I hope it turns out to be an ok race. The rain is certainly not helping.
I read that Tony Stewart was pissed that they picked Bristol instead of Eldora to run a Cup race on dirt. That's why the trucks are going to Knoxville instead of Eldora later in the season, Tony took his ball and went home after being snubbed...
He's got a point though, a dedicated dirt track would not have as many logistical issues to work through.
