I have this on the brain now. Here is another one for the same money but appears to be a bit nicer. Whats the chance someone is in the area and has time to take a look?

If they wanted to drive it to Seattle, even better!

Im too far away to go look at it, but I can take it as far as Nebraska in the beginning of September. I've even got a license to drive a bus.

I will go look at it this morning. I do not know much about buses. Is there anything in particular I should look for?

10500... that looks to be a berkelying steal...

Look for any evidence of roof leaks. Stains in the headliner, watermarks anywhere on the walls or up in the cabinets. Look for rust in the basement storage areas. Pull the engine oil dipstick and see if it reeks of diesel. Check under the radiator cap. Make sure you get to watch it start when cold. Some white smoke is normal with that flavor Cat, but there shouldn't be a WWI cloud. Look for windshield cracks. Replacing glass on this sort of thing can get eye-wateringly expensive. Take a real hard look at the tires, for even treadwear and sidewall cracks. bring a flashlight and try and scout around underneath the thing and see how bad the rust is. IIRC, Bluebird galvanized thier chassis but since it's in Michigan, I'd still wanna check. Oh yeah, almost forgot, check to make sure the engine start battery is at least one 8D (big @$$ truck battery) and the house batteries are a bank of something of at least double that. I've seen RV's this size with one 12v deep cycle car-size battery as the only source for the house supply. Ridiculous. 4 real big 6v golfcart batteries or a pair of 8D's is morfe like it unless you're driving straight from trailerpark to trailerpark. Adding those items to a rig that ain't got 'em, or has 'em but they're worn out, adds many many pennies to the ol' budget.

I will go take a quick look at the easy stuff. It is raining and I am wearing a suit, so crawling around underneath will have to wait until later. I will take a camera and post some photos.

The bus looks good from a quick walk around. All of the glass looks good. The tires look good. The paint is faded and a few places are chipped. I could not see any rust. The guy with the key was not there so I could not get in.

Around the heads of the bolts holding on the bumper there were very light rust stains.

"Looks" like a killer deal to me. I would be most worried about them penetrating the roof to mount the deck. I guess this was a NASCAR buggy.

Shoot. I could live in this thing.

Whelp, she's gonna be slow, and kinda loud with the engine up front, but she has much mojo and charisma.

The deck is factory, from Bluebird.

I think that "ski bums" own it. A guy at the warehouse, where it sits said the people selling it are from Colorado and are moving to Austria in 2 weeks. It has a current Colorado plate.

I can take a look. I used to install fuel fired heaters in lots of buses so I have some experience. I'll even check out the heater for you.
I'm leaving work right now (45 minutes away from there) and I'll call Buddy to see if I can get inside and give it a good look-see. If you want me to look at anything specific, call me 7 three 4 3 seven 7 8670

Buddy never answered the phone. I got there took a look-see and it looked nice. I went in the place and the owner wasn't there, nobody knew anything about it. The bus belongs to the owner of the joint, they are no hurting for money. That being said, the bus was very nice. It's the cleanest one I've seen at that age, heck, it's the cleanest I've seen at half that age. The steer tires were in very good shape, the outer drive tires were as well. I couldn't get to the inner drive tires.
I was able to get inside and it's very clean. It was a high-end coach when it was new, and the owners took care of it. I was not able to check the generator or, well anything for that matter, sorry. But, wouldn't you like to drive down the road and have this to look at?

The roof looked good, it's a proper Blue Bird job, thick diamond plate over a thick rubber pad. Sat dish, solar panels, looks good.

You gonna pull the trigger?

Hey, thanks guys! I haven't been back here as I just finished up a 14 hour work day. I called him this morning and he seems pretty genuine. I also tried to get an rv dealer to check it out but three of them turned me down. I really do appreciate all the help. I have also found one closer to home that I am looking at, so I have choice. I will give this some more atention tomorrow and make a decision. I still have a 2 hour drive home yet tonite.

I have enjoyed this thread and sure enough, earlier today, I shared the road with a Wanderlodge of similar vintage. I will say, the are impressive in person and command a cool presence on the road.
