My perpetual Challenge build Corolla has 15x10 wheels and would need a 275/35/15 tire. Hoosiers are $387 each and I have prior heart problems, so I went looking for American Racer tires. They list a 23.5/10/15 autocross tire at $257 each. Does anyone happen to have any experience with this brand ?
American Racer = McCreary Tire Company. It's not an unknown thing. I was actually surprised they made sports car stuff though as they are more known for roundy round stuff. I used their stuff on dirt back in the day religiously.
reach out to these guys for some lightly used Avons. much cheaper and ultra sticky.

I only heard of them when I went to the runoffs at Indy a few years ago and they had quite the operation set up to service the racers. I had no idea they were McCreary Tire Co.
In reply to Lof8 - Andy :
I'll email them. I've been watching FB Marketplace for used Hoosiers , but they're always too narrow or too tall. Thanks for the contact.
American Racer is fairly big in oval-track racing. It's really just them and Hoosier.
Just so you know, a 245/40R15 on a 15x10 may not be a ridiculous stretch depending on the tire model - and slicks tend to be extra wide. See pics here:
Edit: Had a link showing 225s, these are 245s:

This is at least five year old info, probably more like eight.
I got the stock car tire supplier to bring me in a set of radial 205/50 15s 200 tw tires, and they sure didn't work on a road race car.
They make perfectly good circle track slicks, though.
Edit: Which begs the question, if you are using 10 inch wheels, you could see whether left tires from a stock car would work.
In reply to GameboyRMH :
There are two of the wheels with 245/40/15 Maxxis Victra VR-1 tires on them and they are stretched some, but not bad.
In reply to Streetwiseguy :
Left side stock car tires are readily available, new or used, but will be 26.5" diameter. The car is built around a tire of 23-24" diameter. Not ideal, but not an insurmountable difference.
I spent many seasons autoXing on free, take-off left front pavement sprint car tires. All Hoosiers because that's what was available. 11/24.0-15, 2010 compound on 10" wide wheels.
They give up time on course relative to a real a7 tire built for the purpose, but they weren't terrible either.
I'd imagine the American Racer equivalent would function similarly.

Asphalt or dirt tires? I only ever see sprint cars on dirt around here. There's a good circle track flee market each spring in Ionia, Michigan , so that might be worth my time to go look.
Too bad they don't make an F600/Fmod tire!

Pavement. These guys were in Toledo last weekend
Looking at the American Racer catalog, their Modified/Sprint pavement tire equivalent to what I ran is listed with M28 compound. The Sports Car/Autocross tire you posted has the same specs, except an even softer SC2100 compound. Sounds interesting.
Came across these the other day as well, had to go back and find the ad

Not sure if it's relevant, but I run American Racers on my vintage Formula Vee. Half the price of the Hoosiers, and I actually like them better. The sidewalls are pretty squishy compared to the Hoosiers, and they only hold air long enough for a 30 minute race.
........and problem solved. I went on the local Detroit Region autocross FB page and asked if anyone had any 275/35/15 sticky take-offs and two people responded in minutes with the appropriately sized Hoosier A7s........and at Challenge friendly prices, too.
