Was reading a blurb about Mercury's new DOHC heads for LS-architecture engines when something caught my eye:

the cylinder heads use a valvetrain that's similar to their 9.0L Quad Cam Four Valve (QC4V) stern drive marine engines, which can handle sustained 8,000rpm usage.

Sustained 8,000rpm nine liter DOHC engine. OOOF.

Marine engineers are always the crazies in the bunch.

7 Marine's 557hp, 6.2L supercharged LS based outboard.

At least they're using their engineering powers for good and not evil.

It will sound like boner inducing insanity if I had to guess.

Interesting idea, but I wonder how much taller/wider those heads are than stock. That engine doesn't look as if it would fit in my Camaro.

Which may be for the best, since a DOHC engine in a 4th-gen seems wrong somehow.
