Are NC Miatas hitting the $5k range yet?

Like title says... I'm not seeing anything locally, but that doesn't really mean anything.

In a perfect world, i'd love to find a 6spd/higher redline car in that range, but i'm guessing it's still too early to be choosy.

I see some fairly cheap ones (about $8-9K) from time to time with salvage titles, which is concerning on a car that cost nearly $30K when new.

Last year I purchased a hail damaged 08 for $6500. A new hood, trunk, top and windshield later I had a car with only 26k miles on it with a rebuilt title.

Most that I see are in the $8K-10K range for the lower end right now. You need an 09+ to get the higher redline and I don't even see them that cheap.

I've seen them out here for $3k-$5k with a blown engine, or about $8k-$10k with a salvage title.

I've been looking hard at early NCs this spring. I'm not really seeing anything in the $5-6k range that doesn't have a fairly major problem (mileage, bad motor, body work needed). But I am seeing decent looking (over the Internet at least!) cars starting at the $6500 mark.

The interesting thing is how regional the pricing is, seems like you get a substantial discount for getting your miata from South of the mason Dixon line.

I'm curious to see if the ND release does anything to these early NC values.

Man, I hate to derail this thread but, can someone explain what the draw of the 2.5 is? It make about the same power... more boost friendly?

Look in Florida. NC1's can be found in the $5-6k range, saw one for $3400 with less than 100k miles but it disappeared quick. NC2's are still above $10k.

It makes more power (with bolt-ons) and more torque.

I get emails regularly from people asking if I want to sell my hardtop. I'm pretty sure breaking even or turning a small profit is possible

I posted about a local NC1 back in December. Guy couldn't sell the car. Had 103k miles on it. He was asking $5k at the time. I wanted to buy it for a flip but didn't have the funds. He had it back on the market in April for $4k saying he would take $3.5k. I wish I would have bought it, but if he couldn't sell it for that cheap, I knew I couldn't sell it for much more.

I'd be curious what's behind the bra and I wonder if it was an ex rental car, etc.

I doubt a rental would have had a RHT. But I believe they are on to us as the price has gone up since it was originally posted.

I haven't regularly seen em that cheap yet. Occasionally I'll see a decent looking NC1 pop up for 8 or so, but generally speaking I'm seeing about 10K on the low end and usually closer to 12. Oh, I also see automatic ones in the 7ish range frequently, but...no. Just...no.

Last October I traded in my '06 NC Grand Touring for $10,300.
