I find out it's broken and I don't have the tools nor the time to fix it.
Guess I'll sleep when I'm dead.

I've bought one new car in my life for myself. Had to give it to an ex as a fabulous parting gift during divorce right after the last payment even thought I'd purchased it a couple years prior to marriage. Be glad you have the vehicle.

Three engine swaps later, I'm still driving the car I paid off shortly before the original engine went FUBAR... in January.
So hey, bright side! If I gave up right away, I'd have a car payment right now instead of a crippling credit card statement and half a year of lost weekends! (wait...)

No it's my suburban here in TN. Probably either needs a coil pack or two, plugs, and to find out why it pulls hard right. It only just turned 200k last month....
100k! That's pretty darn good. We use to have to replace the front wheel bearings on my foreman's chevy 4x4 every 2 years. It did spend most it's life in the quarry but we used quality bearings every time.
And the pull was still there albeit less after the bearing replacement. It made noise anyways. Decided to swap sides in the tires.... Now it pulls left. Time for some front tires...
Oh did I forget to say that it developed a miss on the way to the airport?
No? Bummer. One thing after another... Only got 125k out of them. Had to change them when I had the heads off years ago for a afm/dod delete and cam swap.
Of course it was the one at the firewall, although better the drivers side vs passenger side...

Yeah those things are wedged up in there! Last time I did the plugs on the truck my arms got pretty scraped up, and my neighbors probably heard a whole bunch of swearing.
And the hits keep coming....
SWMBO was driving to work and the transmission "seems" to have given up the ghost. Of course, she's off the deep end needing a $3k trans, when I'm out here thinking about the $25 part failing prior to searching for a possible answer. I find a possible TSB in about 5 minutes of searching that kinda explains the symptoms but no smoking gun without the codes being read. That's another story I care to not tell, but it does entail her to actually do something without me doing it. :shocker: Kinda hard from 1800 miles away....
At least I have a mostly full bottle of some Turkey close for nights like these..... And it's half gone.
Still broken, still 1800 miles away.... Difference in opinions on "fixing" it, still. SWMBO broke an ankle Thursday and can't drive anyways.... But it needs fixed RIGHT NOW!!!!!
Anyone want a burb? 200k, slightly immovable. LOL.

When it rains, it pours. Sorry to hear.
As for the wife, maybe consider a long term rental car. If you can find a deal of $20 per day, sure, it's $600 per month but that buys you time and reduces your stress-load. Meanwhile, she's driving something reliable, even if small and utilitarian.
If you choose to do this, seek out some discount coupons but even more importantly... Do not pick up or return the car at an airport or similar. Instead, rent from an in-town location like often near the car dealerships. If you do rent at the airport you are then likely hit with "tourist" frees and taxes. This can be as much as $15 per day. In your case, this could nearly double the cost!
Hope it's not rude, Ranger's info says Morristown, halfway between Knoxville and Kingsport. Anyone in that area?
So, I would figure I'd update y'all on the current state of this diaster.
Currently, arguing with SWMBO about "how" to fix it. That means, I'm trying to not get taken for a ride because the trans shop, AAMCO in this case, I still loathe them, wants to replace "stuff" for well above what I can find it for from the local supply houses. I get they have to make money, but $700 to replace the internal pressure switch "TCU" while giving a "discount", they claim $1000 to fix it later, is horrendous. BTW, it's locally $350 for the Dorman or $500 for a Delco, which is $370 on RA, plus variable core charges. Labor is maybe 2-4hrs in the driveway on stands to replace it, put in Dextron VI unicorn pee, plus a quick learn with the HPTuners I have, all by myself. It's 10 minutes on the builders bench and they still have to do the quick learn when it's done. They're going to E36 M3 there pants when it shifts without any learned adaptives. LOL
4-5-6 clutches are "welded together", ok, big deal, it does have 205k on it. Of course the torque converter "failed", it's common practice to replace it, but then again, it's a $150 part costing $400 OTD. This is on top of "it's the WRONG converter!!!". Stocker stalls 14-1600rpm tops. I put a cam in it, it lowered the stall so bad/much, it pushes you through the brakes at a stop. It needs a looser converter, $650 at summit for something closer to what I need.
I'm still waiting to hear if they put in the common "zip kit" from Sonnax that fixes a lot of stupid inherent issues with the 6L80's. So far not a lot of communication from anyone on what is happening, but I'm not stepping into that minefield....
Oh, did I fail to mention, I'm still 3 hours behind, 1800 miles away, and I'm supposed to handle this by myself? No, ok, good. I've been in and out of the transmission business since the early 80's and barely started school. I know how they operate, yet someone wants an opinion, but when it's given, it's wrong. Oh well......
I can't wait for the ending to this soap opera....
EDIT- I hope they replace the external bar and plate cooler too... Or they are going to not like me... Because those you can't flush worth a E36 M3 and have to replace them. Or it will grenade again....
Oh and thanks y'all for just letting me vent. It's weirdly cathartic and helpful without yelling at people who probably deserve it but won't get the point.

Yes. But to be fair, 1.5 sets of front hubs, AFM/DOD/VVT delete plus cam and head studs, 3 sets of tires, 2 sets of spark plugs, 2 sets of brakes, 2 rear vehicle speed sensors, and one rear end, is all I have put in this vehicle since 55k when it was purchased 5 plus yrs ago. I keep my ship tight. You drive lots of miles when you live in timbukto.
And I still have to put $750 worth of tires on it....
Dang :( That's a lot of work, a E36 M3load of miles, and a lot of gas!
Best of luck getting it going again
yeah I feel your burban pain, I've owned my 2008 for only 3,5 years and its on 3rd engine in that time frame, im not even at 100K miles on the truck, it has been a constant pain of maintenance and non functionality. I was still paying the note through the 1st engine replacement.
I was hoping for this to be a 10 year truck for me, I haven't even put 50k miles on it and its already pending dealer trade in. Its funny how much time and money you are willing to invest in something until one day its a big NOPE, and bye bye.
The actual race car is jealous of the funds poured onto the tow vehicle, this is backwards logic and needs to stop.

WOW. What kind is that? Please tell us, as a service, so we can all stay away from that junk!!!
I was complaining to my wife, that our 19 year Tacoma (bought new), after 227k miles, finally has a radiator leak. That is my FIRST repair on it, and I was telling her what a POS it is!
