No, I'm not James Walker. I worked with James about 23 years ago and we've been friends ever since. I've been one of his in-car instructors for this seminar since 2008.

In reply to Bob the REAL oil guy. :
I did a lot with tire pressure when I had beam axle cars but there are so many more options now. Just trying to keep learning.
In reply to AngryCorvair :
We need to hang out. Rather, I need to hang out with you, learn stuff.
Edit: going to show Mrs. Deuce the syllabus. Not sure I can convince her that I NEED to attend, but I'm going to try.
In reply to mazdeuce - Seth :
with my FWD'ers, there's not been a lot I could do. The swift chassis was too flexible, the Elantra suspension was wrong and the Forte beam was just there.... but was the best.

It's cheaper than fielding a Challenge car. ;-)
And the May seminar is already full, so you've got a few months to work on her before the October seminar fills up. We're kinda like Metallica in that we sell out every date!

Why would you do that in South Carolina? That's not where I am!!
Yeah but it's close to North Carolina, the birthplace of aviation, and aviation can get you to South Carolina.

BUTthere are fun roads that lead to SC, so that makes it ok. Then you get to test your newfound knowledge.
Keith Tanner said:I swear classic Mini guys would install casters in place of the rear wheels if they were allowed.
BTW, when I was having trouble with my CRX being a bit inert on corner entry, the solution turned out to be lifting the rear. This should increase the amount of weight transfer across that axle, but more importantly it got me away from some travel-related problems. Edge conditions can do weird things.
I went the other way on my dirt oval car, lowering the rear to try and limit body roll (so I could get back to the power sooner) toe'd out the RR and chained up the LR wheel to loosen it up. Had I continued racing at that track I would have next gone after the RF, installing some squishy bump stops on the strut to create a rising spring rate and limit compression travel on that corner. I was worried however that change might move weight off the LF where I desperately needed it.
I've been encouraged by Mrs. Deuce to attend the October course. She says that using 10% of the R63 sale to go learn about cars would be awesome. Now I just need to sell the R63. Which one of you wants me to learn about vehicle dynamics bad enough to buy the R63?
And on a serious note, when do these classes tend to fill?

KICK ASS! Dates for October are Monday 10/22 thru Wednesday 10/24.
Depending on how big a contingent any particular company chooses to send, this seminar has been selling out about 3 months in advance, pretty consistently, for the last 6 offerings. October 2017 we had 9 engineers from FCA. Honda always sends a few. Hyundai and Kia always send a few. John Deere always sends 1 or 2. The cross-section of the transportation industry that attends this seminar is pretty diverse.
May 2018 seminar (5/21 start) is sold out, today is 3/8 so that's "about 3 months" to me. Capacity is 27. I will ask the lead instructor if he can see how many seats are already taken for October.
