I have to say I've owned a fair number of cars. I've had Civics up the wazoo, a KL-ZE powered Mercury Tracer drag car, a fully built CRX, and I DD a 05 lexus IS300 5-spd. But I LOVE my 944, it's my favourite car. It just feels right and the fact that I can do this, makes it all that much better.

That fact that is cost me $2500 makes it that much sweeter. Do yourself a favour, if you've even thought about one of these cars, go drive one, I bet you'll like it.

I'm hating my 951 at the moment but that's what I get for buying a $2300 951. Currently needs the slave rebuilt (at least) but I didn't have a 12mm flare and the open end was in danger of rounding off the hard line. No fire in #2 and I think it's a broken valve spring. The entire suspension needs a rebuild - bushings, shocks and struts. The body is in crappy condition. Etc, etc. But damn, it was great fun at Watkins Glen until the last session of day 2 when the slave and cylinder died off at the same time. The $300 tow home sucked.

Unless there is a lot of telephoto-induced foreshortening in that pic, all I can say is "damn, bollards, you scary!" I don't think I would be happy autocrossing there, and one of my main venues is about 100 feet wide by 300 feet long.

Really?

I must not be pushing anywhere near hard enough, I've yet to spin at a track day or autox.

I should probably have a knock on wood smiley for that.

Drove one at an autocross last year. I liked it quite a bit.

The lot is a funny one. Lots of immovable objects.. The organizer is well aware, and we don't get anywhere near MOST of them but yeah I can't say I'm a huge fan although I do love the wide open nature of his courses, they are very, very quick.

Can't say I'd be running a mega dollar 911 Turbo S there, but I'm not too worried with my beater.

That sucks. the saying goes, "a cheap Porsche is the most expensive car you'll ever own"

Hopefully you get it sorted. I've never driven a 951, it must be just that much MORE fun.

Yep, you stepped in it when you bought that 951. Although I bought a much more expensive 951 and still ended up having tons of issues.

They're old cars now and unless they've been maintained properly, you're going spend a ton of money.
