I organized an Auto-x on base and invited a friend who's girl just picked an FR-S last week. I asked her to bring it and I'd let her "test" it. There was a local car show "Scraping the Coast" and Scion asked her to park it as advertizement as part of a deal. She brought it yesterday afternoon after the first session.
The second session started and I took her out in my MCoupe and she was giggling left and right.. screaming, etc... She said "Now I want you to drive MY car".. I'm like... "Sure"
Impressions: - First run: It took me a little bit to get comfortable with my helmet. It was hitting the headrest. The seating position was good, seats were great. Shifter was pretty tight. The low seating has still a good track vision. I left all the traction control and other buttons on to see where the limits were. Took off, clutch pretty soft and low. Great engagement. After the first cone, I shifted to 2nd. then kept it on second for the whole .49 seconds. During hard braking, while responsive, the traction control turned on a lot. Loss of power, etc. Still was able to sort of drift it around in the big slaloms and could have in the C boxes. All and all .. Good.. - Second run: (Traction control and all the bells and whistles OFF). Very tossable, responsive, and the brakes are great. Point and go. No loss of power in the turns, but have to keep it in the revs on 2nd gear. Drifted around a hard sweeper with still good control. All and all GREAT. Just what toyota wanted it to be. Spectators noticed a lot of body roll, i felt it also. With a stiffer suspension, and sticky tires, this is a winner in sock form. Felt very light and responsive.
P.S. the owner is joining the local SCCA and I'll be her instructor.
