Probably not what you are expecting of this thread. I'm not here to compare the events. But I realized that I dont think anyone has posted here about the fun that will ensue at the end of BABE, beginning of Lemons Louisiana this year. It seems BABE pulls into town Friday when Lemons is starting a little over an hour away. It also seems that on or near the site of the Lemons race there is a drag strip. So Saturday night (June 6) there will be a crap heap grudge match. BABE vs Lemons in the quarter mile. Come for the insanity, stay for the carnage ;)

My money is on the Lemons cars. BABE cars are built for comfort not speed....OK they aren't even built for comfort...in fact the word built implies some type of effort was put into them which is just not the case.

If I can get one or two runs before having to flee to the airport I'll take that challenge. Gary from BABE Team Fugawi

Your Volare will need to be real slow to beat Connie in her 19 foot long,6 foot wide, 5300 pound glory.

are we going to have the do the whole "swap cars to drag race for title of the slowest thing"?

I'd love to drive Connie anyway,

Yes those are the brakes. The shiny parts are the wheel adapters.

I have offered that I will pay for a GRM 10 year subscription for the first person to complete the "Trifecta of crap"

BABE Lemons GRM Challenge

All in the same year in the same car.

We talked about running in Lemons when we got to New Orleans but our tanks weren't very suitable.

Would a Lemons car be street legal (as if any BABE car really is anyways...)? That would be the challenge, but epic.

First to Buzz... We can make my "new" MR2 into this car. It was purchased for the right price and we would just need the safety equipment. We could even take the top off it too.

We've done a few LeMons races and all you would need to do is remove the glass when you get there. That's not such a big deal on most cars and can usually be done in an hour - or 10 minutes if you don't want to put it back.

Connie plus Maaco plus lift plus 24s = a ghetto goldmine.

I'd put it together that way and then I'd drive it everywhere!

Wow, do those front brake disks ever look undersized on The Green Machine?

I guess to their credit at least they are front disks in an era that was just coming out of drum brakes all around.

Good luck to the BABE runners. We want updates!

Naah, he went old school cool on it. I was collecting wire wheels for my BABE car and the gold 100 spoke daytons were just too perfect not to let them go to Littleturquoiseb for Connie. Now he's got green for the money and gold for the honeys ;)

You mean like our 69 Olds with 4 wheel drums....sigh...its gonna be a long ride.

Alot of teams are updating via twitter this year (with the iphone apps that put a map link of your current location in the update it is finally a reason to justify what otherwise seems like a useless app to me)

Twitter updates for MisiftToys are posted directly on the home page of our site at http://www.misfittoysracing.com or from there you can follow us on twitter if you have an account.

Rob...i didn't say i wanted to be the one to do it. nothing says fun like driving from NYC to NOLA in an '86 MR2 with the roof cut off.

but then again...

they can be. i've seen more than one Lemons car that was driven to the race, and (presumably) driven home. that is hard core optimism right there.

There seems to be alot of discussion on Connies Wheels Adapters and Brakes so I'll post some pics ...

I'll give you a peek at the wheels ... but no full Connie pics until the rally (wouldn't want to let the green cat out of the gold pimptastic bag)

And just to make you all totally jelous check out the interior ... the green never stops!

She will be ab-so-f-ing Pimptastic ... but not really fast!

I still need to own that car after the rally. I should call Jen, best to negotiate with the boss ;)

I'd like to meet the person that completes this challenge. They would be my new hero.

I've been fairly remiss in posting about our BABE effort. The car (a 93 Sentra SE-R) has had some basic stuff dealt with (brakes, some other fluids, making most of the speakers work, ripping out extraneous wiring from the remainder of the aftermarket stereo and alarm systems, acquiring tires that have actual tread and are mostly round) but has basically been OK in occasional use despite having sat for several years. This of course dooms us to a catastrophic failure on the actual rally.

I have also not posted recent pics, largely because I haven't taken any. We started decorating today, so here's a couple teaser pics.

Something along those lines, though I doubt we'll have time to recreate it fully. More a post-modern homage, if you will.

You'll need to log in to post.
