I've been diving an 89 325ix auto since my beloved 318is was rear-ended in December 08. The plan has been to sell the IX this fall and upgrade to an E36 M3 or a sweet miata. (Selling an awd car and buying something sporty just in time for winter makes perfect sense )

This week, however, a cute little '91 318is fell into my lap. The guy needed cash the very same day so I showed up with a small stack of bills and took the car off his hands.

It's brilliantrot, but terribly faded. It needs a bit of bodywork (big dent on hood and pass fender) but is otherwise straight and clean. It's got 126,000 miles and runs great! He had just finished installing IE stage3 springs and bilstein sports. It's also got a turner chip.

He was originally asking $2300 for it and I ended up getting it for $1300

I'll be sure to update my garage in a few days when I get some pics.

Wow, that's a discount!

I've always wanted one of those, good catch!

Great score there. Any plans for it?

I just want you to know I hate you! Great find!

I'd love a clean 318is as a DD.

For that price you can still plan on getting one of the others. The exact two I'm thinking of upgrading to!

For now, I'm going to reseal the front timing case (leaks ~ 3-4 drips a day), buff/polish the original paint and replace the hood and fender (hopefully I can match the paint pretty close).

I'm going to DD it for at least one year and then I'll start doing some serious modding. In my storage unit I have: Kirk SE30 cage, 2.0 high comp M42, GC coilovers (though i'll likely upgrade to AST), and 15x8 rotas.

My last car was days from going in the garage for the cage when it was rear-ended in the snow.
