A friend of mine swapped in a new battery, assumed everything was the same and put the cables on the wrong terminals (previous battery was not the right group #). This is a '77 Lincoln with starter solenoid on innner fender, he disconnected the battery when the wire to the starter solenoid cooked the insulation. My question is when he takes this to the mechanic to check the charging system ( I told him to tell them what he did ) what may have been damaged ? I haven't owned a FOMOCO product like this in about 25 yrs...

He does feel like a total skuvootz.....

and I'm gonna give him some red electrical tape to put on the end of the positive cable

The skuvootz smoked the voltage regulator! (power windows moved like a guillotine at that point!)
