Just as the title says. I have to put "something" in the frame to hold the bolts for a front swaybar I just picked up. I would do a plate with some captured nuts, but this is a challenge build after all.
So, rivet gun style? Bolt cutter looking things? It has to squeeze a m10x1.5 insert.
I've got both, bolt cutter looking ones are easier to use and work better, but it's usually a case of how much space you have to work. The side handle ones work fine too, just a lot more force required.
I have a boltcutter style one. Great tool.
I just bought this one and it has been working really well. Makes me wonder why I've been welding nuts to stuff rather than just squeezing threads onto stuff with the rivnuts.

I've had the bolt cutter style for years and just got this unit. Wish I had gotten it long ago. Quarter of the time and more consistent results. $100 though so only worth it if you're doing a lot of them.

Rivnut thread
Hey I started that thread!
I'm still liking the Astro pnumatic tool linked in there. It's the bolt cutters style.
I actually searched around on McMaster-Carr and found this instead:
Might not be universal but I think this will fit my needs the best.

You can also make a DIY version of that tool if you arnt doing too many. Thats what I plan to do since Ive only got 10 to install. Just need a bolt of the right pitched, some washers and hex spacer the bolt goes through.
I bought a Woodward branded "bolt-cutter" style tool from Grainger.
It's a nice tool, but the availability of different thread size mandrels is extremely limited . I ended up making several adaptors to be able to squeeze metric inserts. In hindsight I probably would have bought an Pop/Avdel or Marson instead.
