Yeah, click here. You can get 425hp, and since it's a Chebby, there's really no limit to the power you can get out of these. And Jay Leno says they actually ride and handle well also.

For some reason, it's lousy around here with Boss Hog motorcycles - I've seen a dozen of them show up at a time at local bike nights. There are even a couple of them with 502/502 big blocks. I don't really get the point of them, myself...all they seem really good for is really loud smokey burnouts in front of bars.

Yeah, I gotta say, from a philosophical standpoint, this car/bike powerplant swap is not reciprocal.

In the case of a cruiser: okay, who's really counting? It's going to be overweight and underpowered anyway, unable to turn a corner to save its own life, why not make it an absolute torque monster capable of truly epic burnouts in front of the bar? Why not allow the owner those extra couple inches of compensation by being able to say, 'yeah, it's got a 502' versus the next guy's hundred-something-inch V-twin?

(By the way, has anyone done the math for the direct proportion between engine cubic inches and inches gained in penis size? I'd be interested in having that equation handy, like Newton-meters to foot-pounds (says the guy with a 460 Ford in the corner of his apartment).)

But in the case of a sportbike, what is there to gain by swapping in a motor that weighs 3-4 times what the stock 'plant weighs, and makes less power to offset the weight gain? Call me nuts, but sportbikes are about minimalism and scalpel-like precision, neither of which are terms I'd normally ascribe to a Quad Four.

Now, talk to me about putting a capable bike motor in a chassis that exploits light weight and contact patch, and you've got a pair of perked up ears. But I guess that's why the Good Lord developed the Locost, with Colin Chapman whispering in his ear.

agreed.

having a car motor in a sportbike destroys the whole point of sportbikes. years of reasearch and millions of dollars spent to shave mere ounces off of any componant possible, thrown away.

but who wouldnt want a festibusa? double the power at least and less than half the weight of the stock lump. its ideal.

It sounds like you guys are talking about an engine stand on two wheels. If you cannot drive what you have to 100% what is adding more capacity going to do. I drive underpowered vehicle, but I know how to extract every last drop of juice out of them. People say you'll outgrow smaller sized motorcycle in a season, but that reflects more on the rider than the bike. I drive a little 2000 buell blast and I can only drive to 90% so I still have more to learn.

You need to know that these bikes are for show offs not real bikers. I've never seen one on the road if that means anything.

most of my friends ride, my old roomates r6 was nuts. 135hp out of the box. thats from a 600cc motor. that engine, even in my b13 would have more hp and way less weight than the current setup. i guess it would lack torque but the trade off would be nearly worth it.

i did see a clip of a guy wheelying some kind of big cruiser not too long ago. i think it was on cops or something but i never thought a cruiser could even do that. but i have seen some pretty good drag bikes. they cant turn, but man will they rip in a straight line

No 600s are making 135hp stock. They are all around 108 - 112 or so...

Yeah, but litrebikes are beating that number handily, with almost no weight penalty over the middleweights.

Lemme take a wild guess and say they ride these things around with straight pipes?!

It's not bad enough we have a-holes on Harleys with straight pipes, these guys are doing it with V8's!! I am guessing the don' t get a lot of tickets though, noise pollution from a "cruiser" bike apparently is not noise pollution (try driving a V8 car around with no muffler and see how far you get).
