Doing the whole cooling system on the E36 M3- got all parts except the coolant. Mail order did not arrive yesterday as I'd hoped. Dealer parts counters appear to be closed today. Anyone have any leads in the DC area (VA side preferable)? Are there acceptable substitutes, or am I out of luck until tomorrow?
Danke Shoen.
The Carquest in Waldorf, MD had Euro fluids last time I was in there. Some of the fluids were factory branded. They said they keep them around since more and more garages are doing Euro work. Maybe give your local Carquest a call. If I was still living up there I'd give you a gallon.

Theres always the compatible with all kinds/ colors stuff from the auto parts store.
Thanks VWguy- I'll give 'em a ring. Carbon- there is the internet ZOMGWTFBBQ conspiracy about using traditional green coolant- theres a BMW tech bulletin about coolant gelling... and I'm strongly averse to doing a head gasket if that is the outcome.
Dagnabbit. Sure enough Carquest of Alexandria has it, but- wait for it - closed sunday.
Ha ha. Option 3.

Im not advocating green coolant. I'm talking about the specifically designed to be compatible with all colors and manufacturers stuff. I definitely wouldnt recommend using the regular green stuff.
Pentosin is the retail equivalent of the factory BMW coolant, if that helps.
For what it's worth I've used green coolant in my BMWs for years with no apparent problems.
Universal coolant is perfectly fine, I've put various brands of universal coolant in well over a thousand bmw's in the last ten years with zero issues. - BMW mechanic here.

Hell, Prestone 50/50 works as it's phosphate free.
Well, crap. I'm going universal. Peak long life it is. Thanks everybody.
The AutoZone in Langley Park - Hyattsville has Pentosin, and if you check online the actual on-hand count usually is correct. Not that it helps now, but they're open 'til 10 saturdays. I walked in at 9:30 last night and walked out w/ a B5 A4 Q rear wheel bearing (SKF!) for $89. And there's the best tacos in town 100' away at Taqueria 3 Reyes.
Anyone that has vw g11, its equivalent. Lots of people that had 90-95s have leftovers after switching to g12.
