Bobzilla is on to something with this Hyundai's are amazing thing.
My wife has a 2018 Santa Fe V6. It's adequate at everything with no real gripes.
But it has the world's best designed air filter enclosure. It has this little door. I took it off 1 handed in < 10 seconds. I've not seen this before. Maybe it's common and I'm just easily amused.
Meanwhile some year Focii have a sealed air box with a non serviceable filter. Oh the dirty looks I got when one of those owners asked me for a filter...

I had one of those. When I put a CAI on at 90k it really woke up that little duratec. Odd.
My wife’s old car, 07 Kia spectra5 was super easy to work on and never gave much of a issue till a deer totaled it out. I keep eyeing up the Korean brands for a new car.
The cabin air filter in my Forte is pretty easy. Just pop the glovebox out and it's right there.
Versus my Transit Connect where you gotta stand on your head and crawl behind the center console to get to it. Then you have to unplug 2 big plugs on the BCM because there isn't enough clearance to pull the filter out.
Fords are a PITA for cabin filters, Honda are super easy. Same for GM (usually).
Many Nissans use the same slide-in cartridge style air filter as that Hyundai.

What were you doing with the other hand?
In reply to RossD :
My mind went straight to "of course, he was holding a baby with the other hand." Shows you what I spend most of my time doing with my left arm.
The wife has had two Kia Optimas. Both have been exceptional cars. Only reason she got rid of the first one was it was a lease and she wanted something with more options.

So you had to replace the entire air box? Crazy.
In reply to z31maniac :
Correct. There is a Dorman (I think) part number for a box with a replaceable filter now.

Ford's been doing crap like that for 30+ years. Mom and Dad's 1989 Topaz had the cast aluminum valve cover. At about 100k miles it started leaking. No problem, a few bolts and a new gasket and done, right? Nope. That was discontinued and your only option was RTV the thing or buy a new plastic cover with gasket.
Seriously, after working on domestics (ford, GM and Chryco) these things are stupid easy.

Yeah I like my SN95 Mustang in the fun v8 rag top cheap beater capacity. It's definitely one of the more annoying to work on vehicles I've owned though.
Actually no the 3100 Malibu wins that, of course that one doubly sucked because it was a miserable E36 M3box even after you fixed it.
I won't blame Toyota yet for how bad that drum brake job went because I haven't done that many drum brake jobs. Definitely the only time I nearly lost an eye doing brakes though.
