That E30 is tasty . . .
There was an article in the Roundel of a guy that did the whole M3 conversion on an E30 touring. . . $$$$ . . . but pure awesomeness . . .
I will admit to doing the planning stages of am e30 M3touring.. I was thinking of grafting on the side from a coupe to make it a 2 door wagon. Or at least welding up the doors and smoothing them over before adding the m3 flares
No box flares, not a shooting brake - but people do seem to love them a ute and we're talking about mutated BMWs.
Yup, that's an E39 M5 ute. Made from a real M5. www.m5ute.com

There was an article in EXCELLENCE on these dp 944 shooting brakes about a year or so back. I'll look through the archives and see if I can find some more info on it.

I seem to be unnaturally drawn to this car, I think I just got intimate with it.
Bobby Thrash (Strictly German) is taking an E30 touring, adding M3 Box flares, and adding an S50 w/ new suspension. Now that I want.
The story behind that M5 Ute is pretty interesting, and not thoroughly revealed on the site. The owner is PGA golfer Stuart Appleby, who is also an excessively active poster on m5board (many thousand, puts a lot of you dorks to shame). He bought the car he used as a base for the Ute project from a fellow forum member, and there is an epic (now 67 page) build/discussion thread over there that I read through a year ago as he was finishing the project up. I thoroughly approve of the way he has chosen to piss through his Tour winnings :).

Hmm... there was a sort of "race-prepped" Volvo 1800ES on eBay a few years ago that had box-flares... should have saved copies ofthe pictures, but I didn't... unfortuantely, "awesomeness" was NOT how I would describe the look...
sorry if this is a re-post- more of the "924 cargo"
