potential? it's only 20 minutes from here.
I have another body and brand new Corvette windshield for a Bradley GT only two hours north of Lincoln as well. And I'd give you a good deal on it.

Use a Jeep Cherokee one and mount it to the front of the torsion tubes, ducting air in through the headlight openings.
I don't think VW pans don't need any upper support. You can drive around on a VW pan with no body whatsoever. Kinda clever.

All of the kit cars and dune buggies used the flat VW floorpan and had no problems (assuming lack of rust) in not folding up on themselves.
No one in their right mind would want that car - VW power and ugly to boot. Fortunately for the seller, there is always someone deranged enough to buy just about anything!
I've even been that someone on a few occasions....
Nearly all of the VW bug performance bits will fit.
Look at Empi and others for performance parts. The sandrail folks use a number of the same parts and in this climate, they can be picked up cheap.

Fortunately, that is not a requirement for this forum!

One could argue the opposite...
I'm in real trouble, that is just away from the In-laws house, and I think it would be a fun and cheap deadicated autcrosser.
In reply to Mental:
FWIW, a buggy might be better for autocross - lighter, less overhangs. For open track and inclement weather, the Kelmark would be it hands down though.
Basically a dune buggy with a slick body.
Drop in a flat 6 turbo Corvair engine, run 10 second quarter miles, and go around corners.
Challenge Gold.
My uncle had one when I was a kid. It had the roof like this one though.
I've wanted one since I was a kid but have never owned one.

One word.
Mercedes.
Back to work.

The military M2/M3 Bradley is not a tank, but an "infantry fighting vehicle" or "cavalry fighting vehicle" - basically an armored personnel carrier with more punch.
Not to be picky, mind you.
The Aztec? I know a guy who has one buried in a garage somewhere. He built it new when he was in his 20's, probably 40 years ago.
roof and doors were missing, motor was a leaky tired single port that needed carb work. Meh. pass...
Along with mine I have the Kennedy kit to install a GM 60* v-6 on a VW transaxle. You'll need a body lift to make the v-6 fit under the rear, but that's not a bad idea given their lay-down seating position.
Find yourself a good pan and we'll get a Bradley in your yard yet.
The Aztec had conventional doors. I remember the funky car that the whole center lifted up, I just can't think of who made that one or what it was called.
EDIT: During my digging, I found this site: http://www.priceofhistoys.com The guy has links and pix of all KINDS of kit cars. One of my favorites, the Brubaker Box:
