Rolls Royce did this in the 70's and 80's to get enough braking to stop their unbelievably heavy cars inside a 14" wheel with an 80 series tire. They didn't want to ruin the ride quality by going to a lower profile tire.

What they wound up with was a braking system that overheated quickly and because you weren't pressing on a master cylinder there was no pedal feedback to tell you why you weren't stopping anymore
