Folks,

So the daughter lives half way across the country (CO vs TN), and her car needs some basic 90k service.

Her roommates BF has offered to replace the brake pads and the axles.

How involved is the halfshaft RnR? Are there any tricks or gotchas with the brake work?

Does anyone know of a good VW shop in the Chattanooga area?

Thanks,

Rog

If the roommate's BF is competent, then axle replacement and brakes should be straightforward. Nothing special about them.

Make sure the new pads have abs sensors. I replaced a half shaft on my sons 02 Jetta last weekend. Not to hard.

Car has 105k miles.

Is it necessary to use VW brake pads? Are rebuilt axles OK?
