So my sister t-boned a red light runner last night in her new-to-her car.  Still had the temp tags on the poor thing.   Who can tell what my sister was driving?

seatbelt burn and bruised left leg from curtain airbag deployment, but this is about the worst of her injuries.

Side note, newer Hyundai's can take a helluva hit.  The girls in this were apparently fine.  (Accident speed of 30-35 mph)

How much damage did the MB suffer?

I thought this might be about Arthur Digby Sellers.

I'm surprised at the damage to the Merc vs the Hyundai. Glad your sister relatively unharmed.

Yikes glad Everyone is "ok". Mercedes are fantastically engineered cars. Looks like that one did as it was designed and crumpled up dissipating the energy. The E350 is a very common Mercedes.  Replacement with an exact copy should not be a problem.

Glad to hear your sister is mostly okay. It amazes me how much better modern cars are than the "good old days". Your sister has a nice watch to go along with that nice(used to be) car.

And while none of you know her and likely never will, she was super annoyed with me for the pic of the cars front end.  Her dress is flowing sideways and she didn't care for the "widening effect".  Reality is she weighs about 104 lbs.

I'm pretty sure everyone on this board was busy crying over the MB, not noticing waistlines.  wink

Wow, the Benz fared badly compared to an inexpensive tiny wagon!

Glad she's OK.

See a lot of pictures of airbag slaps in my line of work. I give that one 7/10, saw a clear as day VW one awhile back.

I know people might be surprised at how much crush the merc had, but that crush dissapates energy and protects the occupant. Seems like it worked pretty well this time aside from her arm being unfortunately placed (if hands were either side of the wheel the cover wouldnt have struck anything while the bag was deploying). All said, that type of soft tissue injury heals pretty well usually, I doubt she will have a scar.

Probably due to crumple zones. Not much room for one in a side impact.

This exactly. If the tiny wagon crumpled on the side the passenger would be messed up somthing good or dead. The MB  actually saved both its occupants and the occupants of the wagon. Car designers do some amazing work that is highly under appreciated.

It is a rather nice looking watch. Looks like a guys watch, but maybe the tiny (assumed based on 104# comment) forearm just makes it appear that way.

Remember the Lady Diana crash.  Mercedes going 80+ mph hit  a concrete pillar.

The body guard in the right front, wearing his seat belt, survived the crash.

The two backseat  passengers probably would have survived as well if they had been wearing seatbelts.

Driver may have died anyway since he ran his side of the car into the pillar.

Cars are designed to crumple and absorb energy. They both did their job.  Glad everyone is OK.

Her last black car was an Audi A5 that was totaled when she hit a coyote and damaged the wiring harness.   This one is an E350 4matic coupe and clearly a write off.

Her car requirement appears to be black, AWD, coupe, and "sexy".   Budget is $12,000 give or take a bit.  Within 500 miles on Kentucky.

Aaaand go! laugh
