Some prick put a hole in the front bumper of my Focus. The rubber is torn so it is not just a dent. What is the best way to repair this with rattle can, bondo technology? Or does anyone recommend a supplier that ships painted bumpers - I found one on Amazon.
My thoughts are the bondo type bumper repair kit like this http://www.amazon.com/Bondo-806-Finish-Bumper-Repair/dp/B000CINDQI then some rattle can factory color paint and clear coat.
Any recommendations on bumper repair kit brands or OEM paint color brands. What I would like to find is a rattle can with the extra elasticity in the paint which I believe is recommended for bumpers, but I would be surprised if that exists in a can.
How big is the hole? Also what color is the bumper?
I don't know of any spray cans that already have flex additive mixed in. You could get a body shop to mix you up a little bit. Some body shops even keep some premixed colors from other repair jobs if there is a lot left over, there's always a chance they could have some already mixed in your color.
Can you get at the back of it/willing to remove the cover?
Paint shops can put what ever kind of automotive paint you want into a spray can. Not the cheapest, but they can add flex agents as well.

The hole is about an inch and a half long across and inch hight. The bumper is torn at the top and the bottom of the damage but it is not completely punched out on all sides. It is the factory 'silver frost' I believe.

soft plastic or hard? I know the local Napa has bumper repair compound. Same idea as bondo, but flexible rubber

It's pretty pliable. So soft? Pliable bondo sounds right I will checkout Napa.

I think what you are looking for is a urethane bumper repair kit. IIRC, it's in a couple tubes (like epoxy or Bondo & hardener). Depending on the kit, it might come with some reinforcement mesh that looks like window screening. If it doesn't come with the mesh, get some nylon window screening form the hardware store to reinforce the repair from the back side of the bumper.
That sounds like something that I used on my GTI when repairing a rust hole. The mesh worked well, and after I was done, I painted a black stripe across the whole bumper to cover it up. It actually looked pretty decent!! haha

thank you Rob, that was exactly what I was talking about
I think I would weld a rod to a big washer shove it in the hole then pull it from the inside and fiberglass it... (If i couldnt access from inside) Just from looking around the shop what I have. I'd give it an hour then grind off the rod... Smooth it out. Epoxy it and paint to match.
It would be a good little after work project.
Bondo #280. I had to do this to a hole that was right on the corner. Filled a hole and looks good enough for the price compared to replacing the bumper or taking it somewhere.
