My neighbor stopped by the house last night.
There is something special about Corvettes with chrome bumpers front and rear.
If only they weren't getting so expensive...

Oh, it's epic now. The subtle flares and patina are way cooler than primer. He's owned it since about '68.
While I'm not crazy about that color, that's exactly the kind of Vette I'd like to find. Then I'd drive the crap out of it!
What engine does it have?

I'm not so sure about that, but not that many people around my area want vintage Corvettes.

I approve of this message^^^^
It looks well-used and had the right wheels/tires.

Looks like it says 350 on the hood. So my guess is a 427.
Ironically, I do like the styling on the early series, but they drive like trucks, compared to the more modern ones whose aesthetics escape me. The result is that I shall never own a Corvette, but I'm OK with that!
PS - have never been a fan of side pipes. but that's just me.
Factory side pipes yes. Aftermarket side pipes on a car that was never offered with them? Not so much.
Oh wait... IMO
Cool car! Those are my favorite 'Vettes, even if the rear suspension is only half a step above a stagecoach. Can't see in the pics, is it a '63 split window or a '64 with the one piece rear glass?
In reply to Curmudgeon:
Neither, if the side scallops are original. Those would identify it as a '65 or '66.
They should all have those flares and side pipes. I appreciate his restraint for not adding the so popular at the time third pair of tail lights.
It's a '65 and I'm pretty sure it's got a 383 stroker in front of the four speed. He blew up the original engine around 1970. The wheels are the same ones that the car has worn since the '60s but the tires are brand new Hoosiers.
I kind of like the six tail light look, but this car did not get that treatment.
My former next door neighbor had a black '62 that he bought in '65. It was also hotrodded back in the day and sported the six lights. I think it really looks good on the late C1s.
The six lights aren't bad I just don't remember seeing many that had the flares but not the extra lights. The wheels, flares and lights all went together. Put on the wide wheels, put the tire through the fender lip, then flares, extra taillights and bitchin' paint which for some reason in the 70s meant some shade of brown or tan.
