Ok, working on a bench build for my next MG Midget.

  1. Can't seem to find dimensions of engine and transmission. Weight seems to be 372 with all but manifolds. Which is completely based on bullE36 M3.
  2. Where can I get one of these all in? With engine and trans. Looking for budget used.
  3. last- engine management- CBM motorsports looks like they have a harness and control outfit. Any insight- is this a DI engine? Can I work with this?

Working on how I can get this in. I have 4age 20v experience in the midget/sprite shell, and think this might be the best that will fit- especially with integrated exhaust manifold. Or is that only on the LFX?

This page has info on the LFX (except dimensions), it was used from 2012 to 2015 in many vehicles and is being replaced by the LGX for 2016.

My sister has a 2015 Camaro RS with the LFX. It is a bit wide at the heads, but the integral exhaust manifold would make it easier to work with. Sometime I may get measurements to see how it would fit in my MGB. Not sure when that will be though.

Ly7 is the non di version, may be easier to setup.

I think the DI pump is on the engine, so you just have to feed it with low pressure- there have been a couple miata LFX swaps that didn't seem to have much trouble with that part.

Reading those swap builds though, it looks like hood clearance is a problem- if it is a problem on a miata, I might be SOL on the MG. Also, the engine looks pretty wide for a 60* V6, the transmission is pretty big, and the shifter is long and remote.... calculating all the fab work that will probably need to be done hurts my head!

Seems to work well in the Miata At one point I did a bunch of research into using it in an MGB. Some of that is on the MG experience swap board. Ultimately dropped it because it was not going to fit under the hood and I was not convinced that the electronics were in place to control the engine. Still not clear on how V8Roadsters is doing it.

I decided to something easier and build the Molvo since it is mostly analog.
