I like that the lightweight package still gets vented seats.

yup! The aero is part of the factory 1LE package. GM writeup on 1LE package for ZL1 here: http://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/en/chevrolet/home.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2017/may/0517-camaro-zl1.html excerpt:
GM said: Additional ZL1 1LE highlights include: Downforce-producing aero: Unique features include a carbon fiber rear wing, specific air deflectors and dive planes on the front fascia that produce grip-generating downforce to help the car stick harder and drive faster in turns. Adjustable suspension: Racing-derived, lightweight Multimatic DSSV® (Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve) dampers front and rear offer exceptional wheel and vehicle control. The front-end ride height is adjustable, along with the caster geometry. The rear stabilizer bar also offers three-way adjustability. Wheels and tires: New, specific lightweight forged aluminum wheels are an inch wider but an inch smaller in diameter, front and rear, than standard ZL1 wheels and are used with new Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires that deliver max lateral grip of 1.10g. The overall footprint grows approximately 10 percent over the ZL1, but the wheel-and-tire package weighs about 3.3 pounds (1.5 kg) less per corner. Lighter weight: The lighter wheels and dampers, along with thinner rear glass and a fixed-back rear seat, contribute to an approximately 60-pound (27 kg) lower curb weight than a standard ZL1 Coupe. Supercharged performance and more: The power behind the ZL1 1LE is the 650-horsepower, supercharged LT4 engine backed by a six-speed manual transmission featuring Active Rev Match. Brembo brakes are also included, along with dual-zone automatic climate control, Bose premium audio system, heated/ventilated front seats and heated steering wheel.

I don't know. There was a video a while back of a Porsche 911 race car driver and the onboard shots showed him driving like a man possessed. Constantly sawing at the wheel, feverishly kicking the pedals I mean he was really working it. But from the outside the car looked super calm and composed. This is kind of the opposite. From the outside you can tell that thing is being hustled hard, but aside from some very quick hands at times this guy looked rather relaxed.

That person has HUGE cajones! No cage. One hand on the wheel. 169 mph.

I thought the driver was working pretty DAMN hard. I would not feel comfortable driving at that aggression level for more than about 20 minutes.

Good work!

Private group doing it not Dodge. They were going to Viper owners to fund the trip. Personally after being in a few Gen V's at the track and the Ring being in better shape then normal I think they can break sub 6:55 in that car if the aero can be tuned correctly. The OEM tires are monster sticky on the ACR. If they break sub 7:00 I can only imagine the E36 M3 storm that will happen online as people call it fake.

Viper Exchange is a part of the effort.

Yep!

Between this Camaro, and the ACRs on their way to set what is expected to be a scorching lap time, it's a good time for American performance. If getting joy from seeing Cheap, American cars with pushrods beating pricey exotics around a track is wrong, I don't want to be right.

170mph? He was going around some corners over 100mph and you could hear tires squealing - too much for me.

That was a GM engineer? Best day at work I guess.
