My wife, son, and I are headed on a road trip to northern MN at the end of August. My wife lived in Balsam for a number of years as a kid, so it will be fun to see a place she loved so much. We want to camp when we are there, and I would love to find somewhere a little off the beaten path. We will be in our '03 CR-V, so no crazy off road trails or rock crawling. But a little fun and some nice scenery for camping would be great. Any recommendations?

The only thing that comes to mind is the boundary waters for camping.... But that's not exactly off the beaten path. The last time I was up north I was in lutsen. Its a little ski town up north of Duluth. In the off season people rent out condos and stuff, you can do bikes and canoes and hiking- there was a dare contest between myself and a couple of my brothers that resulted In some wicked fiberglass burns from a few alpine slide racing accidents... Beyond that I'm useless- I hate camping.
had to google to see where Balsam is... that whole area looks to be off the beaten path, so camping anywhere within 100 miles of there would probably work..
You're welcome to camp on the lawn at the family cabin just outside Airkin, on Farm Island lake. I'll ask the in laws for local stuff when I see them.
If you have extra room and are coming out via Cleveland there's an LS4 short block that's needing to come this direction. I'd certainly cover your gas to bring it out or cover a night or two at a hotel.
Yeah, Balsam is in the middle of nowhere, so hopefully I can find some forest roads to trek down or something.

Not sure if I'll be near Cleveland or not, or if I'll have room for that. It's a bare block? Dimensions and weight? Where's it at now?
