I know that there is some kind of a CG formula to keep cars off their roof, but was wondering if a Cayene is eligible to run in the challenge? Cause, you know, "Porsche" eh?
Owner has a quote from the scrapyard and it is under challenge budget but, while a tad crusty, it does drive.

I'd love to see it at the event, but sadly the rules don't take badge into account. You'll need to meet the SCCA's static stability factor in order to run. That said, it might meet it without modifications--those are fairly wide cars.
FYI - The air suspension ones can go pretty low, and with drop links can go even lower. I have seen many a Cayenne Turbo autocross with PCA.

How do I do or even start to prove that? Is it as simple as a roof height to track ratio? Cause even though it might make it less safe, I can always cut whatever springs it has and drop it on the ground just to play.
Prove...
The rule is to be wider (track) than height.
I went to the internet for manufactures data on stock track and height numbers. Then from those numbers, 2" wheel spacers helped to make it wider and shorter rubber helped to make it shorter which if I remember made me .7" shorter vs wide. But, before the event I had to provide this documentation.

I shall follow up on this then to see where I might be.
This thing does not need to return, so who needs suspension once I get there?
FYI my FMV is based on a quote from the scrapyard to the person who wants to get rid of the vehicle. I assume that if I can get that quote I am good to go?

There are pics around of a slammed pink one that appears to be RWD converted used as a drift/burnout beater. I think it's doable one way or another.
I mean this won the challenge autocross
Doe this Porsche have a V8? Sounds like a engine swap engine after the event if it does. Who wouldnt want a Miata with a Porsche engine in it?? :0D

Why yes it does. And it seems to drive just fine if you ignore some crusty bodywork.
Quick Googles and I find this:
Seems doable. Shorter tires and some spacers to widen it up. Worse case scenario I bash the top in with a sledge to get the last half inch of lowerness.

The Cayenne S and GTS are. Here's some inspiration:

Chop the top like the Rinspeed Chopster....

This sounds like a problem that can be solved with a sazall. Then re purpos the roof for fender flair's and aero parts.
Taking the average track, it looks like you'd only need to widen it 1.75" without any lowering. So either a small suspension drop and/or shorter tires (keep in mind any steering geometry downsides from shorter tires) and some wheel spacers and you'll be there.
I like this thread. I'm in to see the eventual solution. A guy at last weekends rallyx was running a $1500 Cayenne

The trick will be to grab the car before the seller sends it to the yard.
An interesting option brought up by dean1484 is that since it need not come home, the roof can be deposited in a dumpster should the car make it to the challenge. That of course brings up the need for rollbar, so maybe not all that practical.

I was thinking blue tip wrench but I like the reversible nature of your solution

I live in Gainesville and might be a buyer of this post-Challenge. Per Andy's comment above, it would be a hilarious rally-x vehicle for my son and me to use at the FIRM. I'd want it to keep the roof though so it could be parked outside.
Yea count me in for an interested central florida buyer post challenge.
