I'm looking for a car cover for my race car. It has a big/tall APR wing on the trunk so not sure if I should just get some generic car cover for a large car or if there are other options. Never bought a car cover before...
The car will sit outdoors in my yard in CA so lots of sun, heat and occasional rain but no snow or cold weather.
Thanks.

If the wing is sharp and winds high I'd be afraid of tears or wear spots forming fast. Could you remove the wing? If not a larger cover may work, just get one that tightens around the elastic base and has a belly strap. I view covers as a consumable and won't hesitate to put a new one on, it's a lot cheaper than a garage.
Is it possible to build a shelter, or use one of those pop up deals that is like a tent/gazebo? Wing will punch through a cover, or I would expect it to in fairly short order.

Unless the trunk isn't sealed, just leave the rear end of the cover off and make sure it's well secured? Otherwise, a majorly oversized cover and some kind of padding on the wing to keep it from ripping through the cover, and again well secured especially around the wing.
I think you could cut up some pool noodles and bungie cord or tape them to the wing so it won't poke holes in the cover.
I'd get a quote from a local interior shop and a local awning company. Another option is to buy a couple cheap covers and have a shop make one custom modified cover out of the pair.
Does the wing have to stay on the car? Can it be removed easily and replaced when you need it?
It seems like that might be the simplest solution, depending on how simple it is to get off and on, of course.
You could also buy the cover that fits the car and cut out sections to fit around the mounts for the wing, so that the car is covered but the wing is not. I'm thinking of some sort of flaps with velcro set up.
Car cover plus grill cover?

all the sprint car covers don't go over the wing you might just have to leave the wing uncovered or just get a separate one for the wing.
I tried this on the ACR and the wing just kills the cover even in the garage. Quick disconnect on the wing is best, you can buy a standard cover and it will actually last.
I like the pool noodle idea that may work at least foa garaged car that has the wing cutout. I actually have a bunch of those from when i made splitter covers for the Viper for a car show to tease all the Mopar guys keeping the factory covers on for the show.

Larger cover and pool noodles. The pool noodles work GREAT on all of the sharp edges and protruding stuff on our motorhome. Then minimize the looseness of the cover so it doesn't flap around.
Thanks. I'll just get a cheap generic cover. Not worth spending the money on a custom cover. They're rather pricey
