The bike I just listed here was actually sold on Craigslist. I responded to his wanted ad a few days back. He sent me an email that he would be here, he was, and the bike was in his truck within 5 minutes, and cash was in my hand. Pretty painless.

Most of those are bots just checking to see if there's a live person at your email address.
Put a line in your ad like this: "Include your favorite ice cream/cartoon/venereal disease in the email subject line so I know you're not a spam bot."
Then you'll know, at a glance, which emails are worth responding to.
