car transporters

Any recommendations for an inexpensive car transporter to get a MGB from Fayettesville, NC to N. Va. ? Can be an open carrier. Thanks

u-ship.com. It's an Ebay style shipping site. Shippers will bid on your job for the lowest price. You can read feedback from previous customers on that shipper.

I just used them this week to bring my Miata from VA to PA (couldn't get it myself due to mechanical issues it has). I've used them in the past too. Always worked great.

uship varies wildly depending on which shipper's bid you accept. I've had two very good experiences, and one miserable one.

I have also used u-ship, although only once (non-running Jeep J20 from WA to FL) but it was a great experience. Check the feedback before accepting the bid.

I use my 180,000 mile '93 Lightning to tow with.

I used my 1997 1/2 T Chevy with 350,000 on her to go out to California and back. Hauling wood out and an MGB back. No issues  4000 miles round trip. 
      Look at your tires and give it a quick once over.   I was coming up on needing an oil change . So rather than fight my way through Denver during rush hour I pulled into a Jiffy lube type place and had them service the whole truck while I went next door for diner. The trip out took about 1&1/2 days pretty much non-stop and a little less coming back. 

I used UShip a few years ago and was extremely pleased with the shipper. It was a small husband/wife company named Hauling Assets. They had a F 350 with a choice between open or enclosed fifth wheel trailers. Husband did driving wife did all communications. Haul was about 500 miles and they took care of car as if it was theirs. Called to make arrangements for pick up a couple times in transit and then two hours before delivery.
 

I would avoid companies that haul several cars at one time. It could be several days depending on where other cars have to be delivered plus a lot more chance for damage. Friend had a car shipped on trailer with car above it that leaked brake fluid and trans (atf) fluid that caused paint damage. Transit company insurance eventually paid for damage but it was a hassle and took forever.

I would imagine the OP probably figured something out in the past 8+ years.
