I'm planning on going to do a track day this weekend on the bike. Might have to reconsider, the high is supposed to be 110+. In full leathers. I'd go early AM but it'd still be way hot. Last year I got the itch about the same time of year. Almost fell getting off the bike, and then threw up a bunch while trying to drink some water (was super thristy, half hour session without any drinks), while also trying not to pee myself from chugging water and gaterade before the session. Probably a bad idea... That said I just rode home from work and its something like 108 out, so I haven't learned much.

Just a reminder that you can still buy Gatorade in powder form and mix it at whatever strength you want.

I've been a fan of half strength for a long time.

Back when I played Ultimate, that was my go-to. It's amazing how much better I played on a hot and humid day when compared to water alone.

I've decided to take the CRX or the stock NA Miata to the track day this weekend. The V8 car is just so physical, I'd be wrecked at the end of the day even if it wasn't hot. So I'll work on my low power lines instead :)

Sometimes I'd drive Midlana (mid-engine "Lotus 7) to work. One day it was around 105 on the way home, 25 mph in rush-hour traffic took an hour get get home. That was one of those moments where I confronted the fact that I was not enjoying myself - it doesn't matter how awesome a car's performance is when you're stuck in rush-hour traffic, and being miserable due to the heat, with no A/C of course, because it was a "real" sports car!

I did Willow Springs on the bike and it was around 111 during our race.

I was typically drinking a gallon of liquid everyday for several days in advance.

I was still spent and wouldn't want to do two days in a row.

I've done several race weekends in that car when it was between 107 & 110. It's brutal and I'm glad we stop in May and don't start back up until mid to late September.

105+ during a race is ROUGH. Here in AZ the (car) org I race with takes a break every year between memorial and labor day, and both those events are at a track in a slightly cooler location than Phoenix-ish. The membership track is open all year and ya gotta pay whether you're going or not though...
