Cars youve always wanted, but havent gotten around to getting yet..

I'm not talking about exotics, or out of reach classics you drool over, just everyday cars you've wanted to eventually get a hold of for yourself, but haven't gotten yet. There are some really cool cars out there, some rare, some not, but all within a grassroots budget, maybe some are harder to find than others, maybe you just havent had the space or time, maybe the other projects have gotten in the way... you get the idea... I have a few on my list. A Isuzu impulse turbo, not the fastest, but I love the interiors and the lotus designed suspension, just neat cars.. Another is an Olds vista cruiser wagon, late 60's/early 70's, gotta love those split skylights, a beast no doubt, but would make a great weekender tow vehicle.. maybe a Maserati bi-turbo, yea, i know, they have a rep as being garbage, but ive seen em under $1500, and I think they'd be a fun project, just like a alfa milano would be (and the alfa is probably a wiser choice..) An early 80s rampage, you know the little brat/elcamino mini made by dodge? saw one recently, i think i could have some fun with one of those... and thats just a few, so many cars, so little time.. maybe when i finish the two 924's im working on now, i ll start to look for one of the above ..

Lincon Mark 8. found one in my favorite color well within my budget when I was shoping for a car a few months ago. Plus it was a southern car that has not seen a mile of salted winter roads. I didn't get it because I'm not a big fan of RWD in the snow, and to put such a clean car thrue what I do would be wrong.

edit a del sol and build it up as a clean High performance street car. Nice paint, maybe euro tail lights and such, but no ugly wings or body kits

I wanted one when I was a kid and I still want one today and even though I can afford it, I haven't stumbled across one in good enough shape for the right price and I've got WAY too many projects taking up garage/driveway/side parking space. Porsche 930 Turbo.

I do want to get one of these for my father. He bought one new back in 1965 that was Midnight blue w/black convertible top, tri-power 389 w/MT. After he sold it, he's regretted it every day since. He bought a "new" GTO in '05 and it's a great car, but he still laments about the loss of the "old goat".

a nice TR7, another 914....perhaps a 914-6 or a 916 "clone", (I owned a 914 in the '80s, a REAL rust bucket). American-built cars? A '67 or 68 XR7 Cougar, an early '60s Buick Riviera (they look so cool), and a '70 or 71 RS/SS Camaro or same year Firebird.

928, 3rd gen RX7, 8cyl 5 series (or maybe the big 7 shown above), 911, S2000, GT6, etc...

Most of the projects i wanted to build but never bought the car to start with were about replicating expensive performance/luxury cars from cheaper economy cars, like making an AMG version of a '72 Maverick 4 door... But then, after, having owned and built up over a hundred cars, I realized that a car like my E38 was what I was wanting to build those cars into, and it cost LESS than building up a cheaper car. So I've got my '63 Comet convertible project which gives me the full custom, convertible fix, and the E38 which gives me the gentleman's hot rod fix. And man, what hot rod it's become:

*RWD Celica, either the Mustang-back or '84-'85 but not that ugly gen in-between

*Notchback Foxbody Mustang - currently hunting this one now

*P71 Crown Vic with a supercharger and gears

Any station wagon, I already have the Mercedes so I need a BMW, Volvo, Rx-4, Falcon, and other 60's wagons. Who was the guy with the Rx-4 wagon on the old board? Can we search the archives yet?

A professor I had in college had an Isuzu Impulse Turbo with the Lotus suspension. I always thought that was cool too. Another progessor had an Austin Healey 3000, Light brown with a Tan two-tone, SHARP. I'd like to find a clean 78 Datsun B-210 plus. Thats what I learned to drive in and it got great gas mileage. Would make a nice car for short trips around town now. Volvo P-1800s 2dr or Shooting break...both cool. Fiat 124 Spyder, 924 Porsche Turbo, Datsun 510, 240z, 66 Shelby Mustang Clone, & one of the recent Mercury Marauders to drive to dinner with other couples.

For me, it's more like there are times where I can afford a car I like, then I either find one and it's a rusty basket-case or something happens where I have to spend my money elsewhere and then I can't afford the car I want anymore [sigh]. Anyways, my list:

-1st. gen. Mazda Miata, Nissan S13 5MT hatchback (my first car was a rusty basket-case S13 AT coupe), BMW 318ti, 1st. or 2nd. gen MR2, Merkur XR4Ti, Honda EG or EK Civic hatchback, AE86 Corolla, Mitsu 3000GT VR-4/Dodge Stealth TT AWD, Mitsu Galant VR-4, 1st or 2nd gen DSM turbo AWD.

First off I'd replace my Saab 900 Turbo - had an '84, but had to give it up when it hit 160k, maintenance was too much for a PFC at the time.

Next would be a MKII GTI, so much goodness with 16V.

A 911 is a given, I've looked a few 964's recently, but can't seem to find one that doesn't need major work in my price range.

Audi Ur-Quattro - no explanation needed.

And once I get tired of my '76 Bronco - either a Land Cruiser, Scout, or Rover of the same vintage.

All within my price range (except for maybe the 911), but too many other projects and a wife with limited patience - although she did say I could buy a stage rally car if I sell the Bronco - mmmm rally goodness...

If you haven't competed, you really should. Blows any other form of racing out of the water (any racing is good racing except nascar).

I've wanted a Jenson-Healey ever since I learned about them back in the mid-70's. Also want a 69 Pontiac Firebird Sprint, the one with the Aluminum OHC I-6, 4-bbl carb & 4-speed manual trans. Homolagated (?) for TransAm Racing. Rare nowadays, most been bastardized w/400 V8. Always thought the first El Camino (1959) was cool and wouldn't mind having one, don't know why. Since I've seen Original Mini's w/VTEC, I think an Austin America done w/VTEC would be neat, should be easier to do since it's slightly bigger. Painted w/American flag on the roof & rest of the body blue metalic. Never messed with air-cooled - a Karmen Gia would be cool to build. And a mid-60's Falcon ragtop w/260 V8. A Lotus (Ford) Cortina. And a racecar, maybe vintage racer of some sort. A few others but those top the list.

Thats just a short list off the top of my head, limited to cars I've never owned before.

Daily driver: 2 door Acura Integra mid -90's either silver or blue, manual tranny and no ricerization, please. R model would be real nice, but I dunno how that one would be day to day. I seriously doubt I'd keep my drivers license.

Tow rig: Supercharged Nissan Xterra. I just love that S/C whine.

I always wanted a Jensen-Healey, got one. I wanted a Jensen-Healey race car, finally got one of those too.

Exotics (older) I'd like to have: Jensen GT and/or Jensen Interceptor convertible, make mine Tabasco Red with a black top and biscuit interior, please!
