Looks like Ed Malle and I are going to carrying the $2000 flag at Drag Week this year.
Anyone else out there get in?

In reply to Pat:
Just seems like it's all v8 cars and some are sub 7 in the quarter. Seems like a 10 second car would be pedestrian.

Only in spirit. Paula and I wish you both the best of luck. We are hoping to go again in the future.
In reply to NordicSaab: We ran 11s at the 3 DW events we attended and had the best adventures of our lives. The events are incredibly well orchestrated and the community within DW is very tight. The effort that it takes to successfully compete/complete the event is amazing. There are many parallels to the Challenge.
I ran Drag Week in '13 with an 11 second FWD 4 banger and was the 26th qualifier (out of nearly 120 cars if I remember right) in the 32 car bracket in the Daily Driver class. My car far from fit in with the typical drag week car, but I was faster than nearly 100 other daily driver cars and actually completed the event, which many are not able to do. Even if the other competitors didn't "get" my car, I think many enjoyed watching it run and seeing it beat as many typical drag week cars as it did. I felt welcome with the other competitors in all classes, had an unbelievably good time and told myself that I would definitely do it again.
If you were asking because you're thinking about going this year, the event sold out in 16 minutes. Best you could do is get on the waiting list. I'd recommend you try if you're thinking about it. It's a blast.

OK. Thank you for the background. I had spoken to Ed at the challenge about this event and thought it sounded really interesting. It is a long drive from FL to be a spectator, but I would be interested in doing this for 2016. I might be in the high 9's by then

Oh you need to do this in the Talon! You so need to do this. You might even convince a few friends to be road crew.

Don't encourage me...
I would think the longer you have your car, the more sorted out it would be. Also your familiar with it's strong and weak points, especially for the road trips in between.
both of you have an advantage - especially driving what you built with your own hands
