I'm doing some lunchtime internet browsing, and I ran across this:

2019 Charger Cop Car

$36,000 for a brand new Charger police special at a local dealer - they have several.  The interesting things to me are:

1) This is the dealer's regular inventory website - can private parties just buy new cop cars?

2) I didn't think the 5.7L Hemi was available with AWD?

It looks like this package limits you to the older 5-speed instead of the newer ZF 8-speed.  But still.

You could get a Charger R/T AWD (5.7L, 5-speed NAG-1 transmission) up until 2014, when Dodge killed it off due to poor sales. Now the only AWD Charger is with the Pentastar V6. The Challenger has never been available with the V8 and AWD

My dads old Charger was the R/T with AWD. It scooted.

Stock AWD Hemis arent any quicker than RWD ones. You can easily bolt on enough traction to go quicker in the RWD model vs the weight gain and wheel limitations (weird offset number) of the AWD versions. The exception to this would be if you install a looser converter, have a power adder, or drive in slippery conditions frequently.

But can one go rallycrossing with the awd v8?

You can rallycross anything.

I think I'd rather have an LSD in a RWD car than the AWD.

I was bummed when I went shopping for a new Charger and found the 5.7 was no longer offered in AWD.  I did consider the AWD versions briefly, but they just do not look as good as the R/T to my eyes (and the 5.7 is so much fun).

I ended up with a base R/T model instead.  I swapped the standard 20's out for a set of 18's with dedicated winter tires and made it through a Central PA winter last year just fine.

Downside to plain jane Charger R/T on 18 inch wheels? Everyone thinks you're a cop frown

Any type of Charger can rallycross....

And any of them will lose to whatever $2k craigslist 150-hp E36 M3-box that happens to be in the same class, lol....

But a RWD hemi charger would be fun to rallycross :)
