Hi, Despite my lack of posting here, I've been a subscriber for many years... I'm running TT this season with EMRA, I'm looking to buy a Pyrometer with a tire probe to start logging tire temps.
I came across this: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Digital-Temperature-Probe,2663.html

I googled a bunch of keywords to try and find anybody with experience with this particular style of pyrometer. No dice.

So, any thoughts on this thing?

I could pick up this style that I've used before: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Rebco-Electronic-Pyrometer,893.html

Saving $100 is always nice...

The more expensie ones often have more features such as memory and comparison.

Definitely get one with memory. Ideally you want to take the temp at 3 spots (inside edge, middle, and outside edge) on each tire. And stopping to write all them down adds time to the process and allows the tires to cool a little.

I found my probe gave the same readings as my hand-held laser thingy.

No probe or memory but for the price it works well:
