I am thinking about switching from my Borla to a Dynomax VT. Let us know the sound impressions once you are installed.

What are the dimensions of the srt8 resonators and how much do they reduce the noise?

Thanks

They aren't small, but they did quiet down a hemi well.....I was going to put them on my 91 sho, but I'll use them on the ti instead.....which an uncorked m42 really needs all the help it can get.

I'll get dimensions tonight if I can find a tape measure....lol

Why

Well I explained that I don't want anything too loud for street use...the electronic variable exhaust would let me choose between a muffler or a straight pipe at will, best of both worlds. The VT basically turns into a straight pipe when you run the car hard, which is a decent compromise for the price.

Thanks. That might be just the ticket if my SRT4 powered locost is too loud with no muffler.

They are 23" long including tips, 10" tall on the fat side and 5" tall on the tip side, overall 15" wide. I'll post a picture tonight of the drivers side one once I'm on my laptop....as my phone won't copy/paste the link for some reason.

Oops, I evidently took a picture of the passenger side one......either way, just mirror this one and you have the other. 3.5" polished stainless tips. Methinks the pair of them will look mighty nice on the back of the ti in an "M" style fitting.

If you were wondering, these are 2.75" inlets.

My buddy bought a VT and quickly returned it because it rattled. They had a great return policy specifically on that muffler. Seemed like it was some sort of beta design that they were letting the public test for them.

Supposedly the first batch of them had rattle issues but the ones shipping now are better. I bought one that I will use in my attempt at a "quiet" single exhaust for the S2000 once I have time to mess with it. I ordered it with a coupon code through Advance Auto's website and I paid less than $60.

The Dynomax Vt does not give pure straight pipe performance or sound. It simply has the baffle to reduce drone issues, otherwise it is just a straight through perforated pipe design muffler. It should flow well when the baffle is out of the way.

It seems like all the major exhaust manufacturers are jumping on the less drone bandwagon with new technology.

There appears to be a new design coming out that will give both true straight pipe flow/sound and neighbor/police friendly sound without restriction or turbulence.

BMW E36 mufflers have a vacuum controlled flapper; you might be able to find someone on BMW forums upgrading or parting one of these out.
