Back in the market again and looking for something to compliment the current Lineup
That Being -
2008 Honda Fit MILF (Man I love Fits)
1990 Civic Hatch GSR swapped 8200 rpm
1970 GTO Judge 455 5000rpm
Goal is to have a engine that revs over 8000 that is under 80k while being a lightweight(ish) hoot to drive. A GT350! You might say........bought one, drove it home, engine blew the next morning. Rod bearing left the chat at 3k rpm..... SO that threw a wrench in my plans. What are some Non German options that pleases the ears revving out? Doesn't have to be a V8 per say but the higher it revs the better
Some options I was thinking of so you know my Biases
Ferrari 360 Modena
Lotus Elise N/A engine
Not a huge fan of German made cars IE - the Porsche beetle and bmw e90's
What cars am I missing from the list?? Cheers guys and gals!
Over 8K revs is a pretty small crowd, and cutting out the BMW. Audi/VW and Porsche offerings makes it even smaller. Toyota 2ZZ stuff like the Vibe GT and Celica on the cheap end, along with the usual Honda suspects like the Civic Si, Type R, and the S2000. RX8 gets up there. Otherwise you're getting into rarified air with the Ferraris and Lamborghnis. I think the new C8 Corvette Z06 gets up there as well.
I am just here for pics of the '90 hatch ...
Whats the budget?
Lexus LFA
S2000
NSX, pushing it at 8k.
Post says "under 80k". The inclusion of a Red Car 360 Modena would seem to back that up.
Too bad the Germans are out, that's S54 territory. The current Z06 goes for about 50% more than the budget.
Not quite 8k RPM, but the Lotus Evora would be near the top of my list in that price range. Beautiful car, excellent handling while also having a nice ride, very rare for this type of car. Toyota reliability. You can get a low mileage 400 in that price range, and older Evora's are less. The 400's sound terrific, never thought a Camry engine could sound that good.

GTR is neither lightweight or 8k revving (only 7k), but within the price point and is fun from what I hear?
DB9 is only 7200. CTSV maybe?

I mean you're considering an old ferrari...I'd really love to know why german cars are out. The usual complaints are reliability or cost of ownership but a modern porsche and even the E90M3 are basically a toyota camry in comparison. $80k buys you a lot and even if it doesn't quite rev to 8k it'll get close and sound better anyway. That budget can probably sneak in something with a CPO warranty if you're really that concerned about it.
This question would have a lot of great answers if the 8000 rpm was 7000rpm.
I thought maybe a Gallardo might be it, but looks like the ship has sailed on sub $80k... plus Lambo is owned by VW, so maybe too much German DNA?

My deal with the Germans is they're not really pretty to me in any fashions under 100k....997 GT3 though? Yes Please! I could consider a E30 with some crazy s65 swap if someone is crazy enough to build one like that even if it would spoil the handling Box flares are my JAM

Hey, if it makes MUSIC up there at 7,000 I'm all ears. I've always been a car guy in the order of How it sounds - How it Drives - How it looks. I'm all in on engineering marvels of engines

A stick shift DB9 could be fun!
Very over your German phobia and get an 8K RPM B7 RS4.

Okay, okay no Germans - how about a 2020+ Supra .
I'm actually serious. Looks are subjective, but from what I've read it delivers pretty well on your first 2 priorities.

With 50% more firing events per revolution than a V8, V12's don't need 8k to sing. I'd definitely check out Aston Martin. Manual is great, but the ZF 8HP auto in the newer ones should be quite good too.

mmmmmmmm aston v12s! Will it bankrupt me on maintenence?
So, the GT350 killed itself (and maybe soured you on the platform), but what about a 'regular' Mustang GT? The Coyote 5.0 can spin to 8000 after a handful of mods, and as long as you keep decent mufflers on the car, it sounds good at full chat. They're heavy dance partners, but the 80K budget leaves lots of headroom for adding lightness, or just massive tires to better handle the weight.

You can still pick up NSXs in your budget, no problem. They are wonderful cars, and coming from your EF you will feel right at home, just in a larger, fancier, faster, nicer, sexier, home.

*trembling from timing chain noises* but what a NOISE
Pay one of the great people on here to do a Hayabusa swapped metro (or smart).
Civic type R or S2000 seem obvious, RX8 is very worth a look and with that budget could be overhauled well.

Certainly open to trying one, never driven a Performance pack car but the base GT feels HEAVY and muscle car-y. I fell in love with how the Shelby somehow drove like it lost 500lbs. In the steering department, It was so sharp.

I am here for that. S600 chassis with some bike motor would rock my socks off
NSX, S2000, the Ferrari you mentioned or some flavor of Corvette or Lotus would be my short list
