We're looking at replacing the 2000 MPV, because putting additional $$$ into a van with 275,000 km is starting not to compute.

It looks like a direct replacement to a newer MPV will give us everything we want in a family DD (well, except stability control).

There's a bunch of off-lease 2005s and 2006s around, and some of them have ridiculously low mileages, like 45,000 km over five years.

I know basically what to look for in a used car, but is there anything I won't think of that gets worse even though it ISN'T very used? Tires, obviously, and fluids; what am I missing?

Thanks!

Exhausts are another thing to watch out for, although OEM exhausts tend to hold up very well these days. I would check for dry-rotted tires if they're original, as well.

Short trips would be my main concern with a vehicle with lower miles than you'd expect.

I don't think any of these fall into the 'mileage so low that you'll get damage from them standing around' category. I'd look for stuff like seized brakes anyway, though.
